Nyjah’s House In Architectural Digest

by The Editors on December 26, 2019

Nyjah Huston’s new pad in Laguna Beach, California was an architecturally significant place even before he remodeled it up to his personal steez. Old media stalwart Architectural Digest was invited to take a tour. Always the proper host, Nyjah showed it all off quite nicely. Watch the video. It’s good.

Huston, Pudwill, Wair Make Great TV

by The Editors on August 25, 2014

Sls Swc

Don’t mean to gush, but last night’s Street League Skateboarding Nike SB Super World Championship was the best skateboarding we’ve ever seen on TV. The way the guys stepped up and committed to the game was all time. And the SLS format is so shockingly easy for moms and even grandmas to follow along and enjoy that the whole family can cozy up and feel the heat. The miracle is that nothing is dumbed down. It’s all real.

Luan Oliveira went out like a boss, Matt Berger impressed us all, Tory Pudwill stayed on point, Ishod Wair pulled it all together, and Nyjah Huston reminded everyone that he has his mind and body completely locked on Street League Skateboarding by winning the event on his final attempt with a Cab flip.

“I am stoked to win this one – it’s one of the best contests I have ever skated”, said Nyjah Huston, winner of the 2014 Super Crown World Championship. “The Cab Kickflip I had landed multiple times in practice and it was a trick that was already on my mind and I knew I could do it.”

If you missed any of the SLS events this season, all four (Pro Open, Chicago, LA, and Super Crown) are getting replayed on Tuesday, August 26 beginning at 5:30 AM PT (set your DVRs). For the official word from Street League Skateboarding, follow the jump. [click to continue…]

Street League Turns Huston’s Trophy Truck

by The Editors on November 7, 2012

Nyjah-Huston-21

Remember the hoopla when Nyjah Huston won the 2012 Street League Championship back in August 2012? That thing about the truck not the trophy being backwards? Well, apparently representatives of Street League fixed all that and went to Laguna Beach, California and presented Nyjah with his 2012 Championships Nixon Watch, Ring, and a remodeled trophy. And it all looks right proper. Bling Bling.

P-Rod Ends Nyjah’s Street League Streak

by The Editors on July 15, 2012

Stop 3 Final Results-2

Paul Rodriguez kept his X Games gold ways rolling as he slipped past Chris Cole, Ryan Sheckler, and Nyjah “sprained knee” Huston to win Street League Skateboarding Stop 3 in the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona. If you watched it live on ESPN2, then you know.

Fans were on the edge of their seats during the last section of the finals as Rodriguez went trick for trick with Chris Cole, Ryan Sheckler and Shane O’Neill. Rodriguez came out on top with an overall Finals score of 45.7. Cole came in a close second with an overall Finals score of 43.1 followed by Ryan Sheckler who rounded out the top three with a 40.5. Cole needed a 9.0 on his final attempt to take the top spot but missed to give Paul the win.

Huston On Top At Street League 3 Qualifiers

by The Editors on July 14, 2012

Nyjah Gd-O

No one should be surprised to learn that Nyjah Huston was once again on top of the qualifying rounds of Street League 3 from Glendale, Arizona tonight. What was sup rising was how close the top four skaters were. Only .5 of a point separated the top three.

Qualifying in second was Luan Oliveira, with some incredibly technical tricks like a Switch Frontside Flip and a Nollie Backside Flip in the Big section. Third place qualifier was Paul Rodriguez with an overall score of 33.1. Rounding out the qualifying spots were Chris Cole, Torey Pudwill and Ryan Sheckler, who all had solid days of skating

Competition continues tomorrow with the finals live on ESPN2 at 4 PM PST. For the complete official results, follow the jump. [click to continue…]

O’Neill Takes Vegas, Huston Grabs The Crown

by The Editors on September 26, 2010

On September 25, 2010 Rob Dyrdek wrapped up the first season of Street League at Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Arena with Australian Nike SB rider Shane O’Neill taking the top spot. With a third place finish Nyjah Huston grabbed the overall title and the $20,000 diamond encrusted Nixon Watch.

It was a solid ender for events that have garnered mixed reviews. While no one can deny that Street League put down some of the best competition street skateboarding on record, many who have tried to watch the Street League TV shows (us included) have been shocked by how clinical the events come off looking in the absence of a jam format. Watching skateboarders do one trick or one line one at a time and then waiting for a score can get tedious very quickly. But we’re confident Rob Dyrdek will have no problem fixing all this for next year. The guy is the master of delivering exactly what people (and sponsors) want.

Final Results
Street League #3

1. Shane O’Neill
2. Chris Cole
3. Nyjah Huston
4. Chaz Ortiz
5. Ryan Sheckler
6. Paul Rodriguez
7. Greg Lutzka
