Huston On Top At Street League 3 Qualifiers

No one should be surprised to learn that Nyjah Huston was once again on top of the qualifying rounds of Street League 3 from Glendale, Arizona tonight. What was sup rising was how close the top four skaters were. Only .5 of a point separated the top three.

Qualifying in second was Luan Oliveira, with some incredibly technical tricks like a Switch Frontside Flip and a Nollie Backside Flip in the Big section. Third place qualifier was Paul Rodriguez with an overall score of 33.1. Rounding out the qualifying spots were Chris Cole, Torey Pudwill and Ryan Sheckler, who all had solid days of skating

Glendale, Arizona (July 14, 2012) – The results are in from an exhilarating qualifying day for the third stop of the 2012 Street League DC Pro Tour Fueled by Monster Energy (SLS) in Glendale. Some of the world’s best skateboarders were on hand at the Jobing.com Arena and six of the twenty-four Street League pros secured a spot in Sunday’s finals with two spots left open for the top scorers of tomorrow’s semifinal round. It was a tight top tier, with the one, two and three spots all within one point of each other. But it was Nyjah Huston who came out on top by less than two tenths of a point, clenching first place in the qualifying round with the night’s highest score, a 33.6 overall with tricks like a Kick Flip Backside Tail Slide on the Big Section out-ledge for 8.7.

The Street League pros that finished from 7th to 12th will have one last shot to qualify in the semifinals on Sunday. This year’s semifinal winners round out the 7th and 8th spots for the finals. Tomorrow’s live
broadcast could potentially feature an unlikely contender making a run at the podium.
