Autistic Kids Visit Sheckler’s Private TF

by The Editors on November 14, 2010

A SkateRyan Sheckler invited close to 50 kids with autism to his private TF on Saturday November 13, 2010 in a skate demo collaboration between the Sheckler Foundation and A.Skate as a part of TACA’s Ante Up For Autism weekend, according to a story in the OC Register.

Crys Worley, a 28-year-old mother of two, founded nonprofit A.skate a few years ago after getting her 7-year-old to try skateboarding. Her fiancé owns a skateboard shop, and the first time they took her son Sasha to a skate park, they noticed he seemed more relaxed. . . A.skate operates on the idea that the repetitive motions of skateboarding help calm symptoms of autism. The organization’s events are free for the participants and their families and are supported by fundraisers.

Ryan was joined by members of the skate community including Skaterboarder Magazine editor Jaime Owens (pictured right helping Sam Tobin, 8, of San Diego get rolling). Sounds like a great way to spend a saturday helping the kids.

A New Jersey businessman loses his shit over a bush in front of his building in what may be one of the best rants ever caught on tape. The dead silence at the end of the clip is the best part.

T. Hawk’s Las Vegas Stand Up For Skateparks

by The Editors on November 8, 2010

Scaled.Tony Hawk (29 Of 62) T610

Tony Hawk held his Stand Up For Skateparks event at The Wynn resort in Las Vegas on Satruday (November 6, 2010) and all we can say is: where else would we ever see a photo op that included Shaun White, Tony Hawk, Holly Madison, Eric Estrada, and Kevin Staab. Seriously. If Andre Agassi had been in the shot it would have been all time.

We’re pretty sure the event raised a lot of money for the Tony Hawk Foundation and may have even moved a few units of Tony Hawk Shred. Click here for the full slideshow from the Las Vegas Weekly. Follow the jump for the official press release.

Chris Cole’s New Sock Stance

by The Editors on November 2, 2010

Chriscole Stance

Stance’s Ryan Kingman just let us know that Chris Cole in now official wearing the socks.

Cole’s achievements in skateboarding defy description. Everyone is well aware of what a beast he is on his board and what he’s capable of. With that said, we won’t bother trying to envelop his amazing list of accomplishments here as the sheer volume spoken by Cole’s decision to be part of Stance is best left as it is. Well done is better than well said.

Can’t really argue with that.
