It looks like Tony Hawk has been doing a little spring cleaning lately. If he’s not selling his everyday family driving car, he’s auctioning off collectables from his office to raise money for his charity.
This time he’s got a slew of oddness including: an old contest trophy, an autographed Michael Jordan Jersey, a Tony Hawk Prototype Doll Head, prototype Airwalk Shoes, Five nights in dangerous Cancun, Mexico, and a golden head of Tony Hawk sculpture. But that’s just a few of them. There three pages more of the stuff.
If any of this sounds interesting to you click the link and make a bid. All the proceeds from the auction will go to the Tony Hawk Foundation. Follow the jump for the official word from Tony Hawk, Inc. [click to continue…]
This is Tony Hawk’s personal 2008 Jeep SRT8 with a Hennessey SRT600 Turbo package. This car was driven on the 2009 Gumball 3000 and featured in an episode of MTV “Cribs”. . . . This model came stock with 420 hp and Tony jumped at the opportunity to work with John at HPE on the engine. They installed the SRT600 Turbo package.
And yes, it is fast. It will go 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and turns in 11.9 second quarter miles if you’re into that. It’s currently up on a 7 day auction so you have a week to think about it.
Watching the Vans Bowl-A-Rama from Bondi Beach makes you think that boosting 7-foot-high airs out of the Bondi Bowl is easy. Back tails through the square corner? No problem. In fact, watch the pros flow the bowl for an afternoon and it will all seems simple, that is until you try doing that stuff the next time you’re in a pool, or realize that Bucky Lasek ended up in second place with Rune Glifberg in third because Pedro Barros is so good that he won the event for the third year in a row.
Crazy. Right? Follow the jump for the official word from the Bowl-A-Rama including full pro and masters results. [click to continue…]

The world famous Carlsbad Gap was torn down yesterday Thursday, February 23, 2012 to make room for renovations on the campus of Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, California. We can still see Kris Markovich hitting that thing in our mind’s eye. It’s nice to see that workers showed respect and used a monster-sized excavator to remove the historic gap because it wasn’t going down easy. Timothy Robert Baker, a 24-year-old snowboarder from Salt Lake City, Utah died Thursday, February 23, 2012 after being buried in an avalanche in Dutch Canyon area just outside the boundaries of The Canyons ski resort, according to a story in the Salt Lake City Tribune.
Baker was riding his snowboard . . . near the Ninety-Nine 90 Express lift when he triggered the avalanche at about 3 p.m., said Summit County sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Bridge. . . “His friends were on the side watching him go across the mountain,” Bridge said. . . The snow slab started to shift underneath a cliff where unstable snow pellets had pooled, according to the Utah Avalanche Center. Baker was swept down the mountain into Dutch Draw, a basin to the southeast of the resort.
According to the story neither Baker nor his friends were equipped with avalanche transceivers. Our thoughts are with Baker’s family and friends.
