The mother of a La Canada, California high school student made her 17-year-old son stand on a street corner for 15 minutes holding a sign that said, “My name is Justin. I am a thief” after she discovered her son had stolen a skateboard, according to a story in the La Canada Valley Sun.

“It’s my 15 minutes of shame,” said Justin, who held the sign — often in front of his face — from 4:45 to 5 p.m. as his mother looked on from the edge of the La Cañada Town Center shopping plaza. . . The woman did not give her name or the boy’s last name, but said she “wanted all his friends to see.”

Wonder who alerted the local newspaper? Sounds like mom is not only a punisher, but a publicist as well.
