Ryan Sheckler Strips Down For Peta2

by The Editors on December 16, 2014

It’s nothing half of Las Vegas hasn’t seen at those summer pool parties, but Ryan Sheckler has shown some skin for PETA youth division’s “Be Comfortable in Your Own Skin, and Let Animals Keep Theirs,” campaign.

“I’ll never put on a mink coat. It’s just not right,” Sheckler says in an exclusive video interview with peta2. “Be aware of what you’re actually doing and what materials you are using. You’re taking a life from an innocent animal.”

We agree with Ryan. For the full page ad and the official word from PETA2, please follow the jump. [click to continue…]

Ryan Sheckler And His Tattoos

by The Editors on October 30, 2013

AOL, the company that can’t figure out what it is in the post-dialup world, still has a lot of money and they’ve been giving it to people who can do interesting things with it. One of those things is a new show called My Ink in which sporting stars take us all on a tour of their bodies via their tattoos. Episode two stars Ryan Sheckler, who from the looks of him, is nearly out of canvas space at this point, but that doesn’t mean he’s not nice to everyone he meets because he is. We know this.

Ryan Sheckler Gets Wet In Las Vegas

by The Editors on April 2, 2012

It appears that Ryan Sheckler hasn’t let a small thing like a $100,000 Las Vegas jewelry heist keep him from partying in Sin City. He reportedly was back in town to host a party at MGM Grand’s Wet Republic during spring break, according to a story on Haute Living.

Sheckler became the center of attention when he took his shirt off and lounged by the private pools in front of his VIP area. Female fans flocked to his bungalow wanting to get up close and personal with the heartthrob. He warmly greeted and chatted with his admirers and even took photos with a bevy of beautiful bikini-clad partygoers.

Yes, that’s what fame will get you, boys and girls. Keep riding that skateboard and get a good agent.

Ryan Sheckler Under The Volcano

by The Editors on January 15, 2011

120909 25Ryan Sheckler reportedly posted a photo of himself on Twitter showing a new Red Bull hat. Then, someone who follows Sheckler’s tweets much more closely than we do noticed what looks like a Storz & Bickel Volcano in the background. Ryan pulled the image down from his Twitter feed but not before someone posted the photo on a site called The Dirty with the headline Lay Off The Ganja Sheckler.

Now, according to TMZ, Sheckler’s lawyers want the photo removed from the site saying:

Your unauthorized use of the RS rights and promotions of your website, products and items involving RS’s name likeness, copyrights and related trademarks and may violate RS’s right of publicity, constitute trademark infringement, copyright infringement, dilution and unfair competition among other rights. . . Additionally, your actions may have placed RS in breach of current agreements has has in place, and may expose RS to liability and/or damages.

The issue does bring up one good question (not that Sheckler’s lawyers mentioned it). Does posting a photo on Twitter give anyone free license to use that image on the web or in print any way they see fit? Not necessarily, according to a recent federal court decision reported in PDNonline.com. Photographer Daniel Morel is suing several news organizations (AFP, Getty Images, CBS, Turner Broadcasting) after they lifted one of his Haiti earthquake photos from his Twitter feed and ran with it. A judge agreed with Morel saying his lawsuit could continue because the “defendants failed to prove they had a license to use Morel’s images.”

Sheckler’s celebrity status coupled with the fact that the photo he posted of himself sitting directly in front of a “plant ingredient inhaling device” is in some twisted way “news” likely means there’s not much his lawyers can do about it. Not only has The Dirty left the photo up, they added this comment: “The kid is claiming war against me when he is the idiot who posted the picture. How much weed did you smoke dude?”

Seems the smoothest route through all of this would have been for Sheckler to ignore the post entirely. But then the lawyers wouldn’t have written that letter. And lawyers love writing letters.

Ryan Sheckler’s Skate For A Cause

by The Editors on June 1, 2010

Sheckler-Cabflip

When we can’t actually be there it’s nice to know Rob Brink is. He apparently covered the whole Sheckler Skate For A Cause event held May 29, 2010 at the etnies skatepark without once lifting his finger from the shuttler release.

Click the link and you’ll see exactly what we’re talking about. It’s almost animated GIF overload, but in a good way.

Ryan Sheckler On Fans & Haters

by The Editors on August 3, 2009

ShecklerRyan Sheckler sat down with Sports Illustrated’s Arash Markazi for a Q&A this weekend at the X Games and here’s what he had to say about his fans and haters:

My fans are the best fans in the world and my haters are the biggest haters in the world, and I love both of them. I [frigging] laugh at the haters. I laugh at them. It’s the most funny thing to see them. I try to put myself in their shoes and look at someone that’s doing way better than me and making way more money than me and I look at them and I’m proud of that guy. I’m happy for them. But the haters that are sitting there, running their mouth and talking [trash], they’ve never had to work for anything. They’ve never had the pressure of 100,000 people watching them. They’ve never been in that situation. So go do something productive with you life. Leave me the [heck] alone; I’m doing [stuff]. I got things to do with my life.

The Ryan Sheckler Stardoll

by The Editors on June 2, 2009

Ryan Stardoll

Stardoll (Fame, Fashion and Friends) is another one of those sites that we don’t understand at all. But apparently the little girls understand. Stardoll is the “largest online community for girls who love fashion, shopping, decorating, creativity, and making new friends from around the world” and Ryan Sheckler is there and ready to dress up.

Apparently, Stardoll has more than 20 33 million users and Ryan is more popular than Beckham. Wonder if there is a “buy it now” button anywhere on the site?
