At the 2012 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California Converse will present their fourth Coastal Carnage pro/am skateboarding competition Friday August 3 through Finals on Sunday August 5.
As in years past, Converse Coastal Carnage will be a jam format consisting of 10 qualifying rounds with four riders skating against each other at the same time. As an invite-only, pro/am event, Converse Coastal Carnage combines experienced professionals like U.S. Converse Skateboarding Ambassadors Mike Anderson, Sammy Baca and last year’s Converse Coastal Carnage winner Tom Remillard competing against a wave of fresh new talent including Converse Skateboarding Ambassador Kalani David. Also competing in skateboarding activations on the beach is Converse Skateboarding Ambassador Nick Trapasso.
It should be no surprise to anyone who saw Tom Remillard (above) rolling the Converse Coastal Carnage bowl over the past three days that the San Diego skater would be nearly impossible to beat. His smooth, effortless flow at speed is unmatched on this terrain and is reverts out of the cradle and the deep end were just crazy. And that’s the truth.
Here’s how the rest stacked up after Sunday’s (August 7. 2011) final jams on the sand in Huntington Beach.

For the second year in a row we’ve hung out at the Converse Coastal Carnage mini park for practice. Something about the smaller crowds, missing TV cameras, and no pressure often makes practice more fun to watch than the finals. But don’t let that stop you from watching the qualifiers and finals live on the US Open of Surfing website on Saturday and Sunday August 7-8, 2010.
Follow the jump for the 12 finalists who will skate on Sunday.
The Converse Coastal Carnage mini park at Huntington Beach is looking pretty smooth, no? Almost makes us want to fill the thing with water and start blowing up our raft. . .
