Yep. Looks like you can’t stop the man in black. Shaun White proved once again that he is the greatest halfpipe rider in the history of snowboarding no matter what he wears. We were hoping for something a little more dramatic, but White looks good in black.
Scotty Lago jawed his way into second place with Louie Vito dancing into third.
We heard Kazu-san was underscored. On Twitter former X Games announcer Todd Richards said: “Come on? Kazu gets the shaft.”
Kelly Clark, who hasn’t won an X Games gold medal for years, did everything she had to do last night to win (including a monstrous backside 10 in her final run). As it’s been so going so far this year, no one else even had a chance.
“It’s been an incredible night. To have a victory lap like that and set it down at the X Games is amazing,” Clark said. “I’ve been working on that for a long time and I couldn’t think of a better place for it to come together.”
Local favorite Gretchen Bleiler slammed on her first run and then sat on her next two, seemingly never able to get that first one out of her head. Kaitlyn Farrington was second, Elena Hight was third, follow the jump for results.
We didn’t get to see Shaun White’s new all-black X Games 15 halfpipe costume last night, but we certainly hope he wears it again in the finals. We want to see it in action. He’s definitely kicking halfpipe fashion up a notch this year. Follow jump to see it the details. [click to continue…]
In case you missed Gretchen Bleiler and Kelly Clark in the X Games 14 halfpipe last night, January 30, 2010. For details on Gretchen’s gold, follow the jump.
For those who have neither cable TV nor an interest in the X Games in general, we’ve compiled all the skateboarding results. . . We’d link you to the ESPN.com/Action site for more coverage, but visiting their web site will only end in confusion and annoyance. Trust us.
We were interesting to learn that with a bronze in vert, a fifth place the big air rail jam, and a silver in skatepark, Andy Mac became the most decorated skateboard athlete in X Games 15. How is that?
Snowboard Club UK is reporting that the European Winter X Games will be held March 10-12, 2010 in Tignes, France.
The event will bring together ESPN’s world class X Games franchise with France’s leading pay TV broadcaster and local expertise of Tignes. A definitive list of the world’s top winter action sports athletes will be invited to France to compete for medals and prize money.
ESPN’s X Games franchise is getting a bigger and bigger footprint every day. Why not?
We have to give credit to Scott Tilton, founder of Loop’d Network. He continues to land great press release fodder for his “online community for action sports.” This time he’s lined up to be the “official online community” for X Games 15, according to a story in the San Diego Business Journal.
As part of the agreement, ESPN.com Action Sports will provide year-round news for Loop’d Network across all of its action sports hubs. ESPN will also provide RSS feeds from ESPN’s columnists and bloggers in skateboarding, snowboarding, free skiing and surfing.
Wait, can’t anyone run and ESPN RSS feed is they want? Isn’t that what RSS feeds are? Guess this is just one more thing about Loop’d Network that we’ll never understand.
