House of Vans Melbourne At The Meat Market

House of Vans Melbourne is kicking off a two-day pop-up event at The Meat Market on Friday and Saturday November 10-11, 2017.

The all-ages day sessions will kick off with the Vans skate team hosting workshops including learn to skate classes with Jesse Noonan of Rock N Slide Skateboarding, grip tape design workshops with Jimmy Roche and a Skate Photography and Videography workshop run by Andrew Mapstone to teach budding skate photographers how to refine their craft. The workshops will run over both Friday and Saturday with limited capacity: registration is essential. Saturday afternoon will see a stripped-back, musical performance from Little Brother (Trophy Eyes’ John Floreani) with support from Alex Moses (Columbus).

Melbourne, Australia (October 20, 2017) – House of Vans Melbourne, a two-day, pop up event held at The Meat Market, North Melbourne on Friday 10th & Saturday 11th November, 2017 is a showcase of Vans’ unique culture through multifaceted activations including D.I.Y workshops, shoe personalization, curated musical performances, a group artist show dedicated to the Sk8-Hi, Street markets and Vans Skate and BMX team Demos.

The all-ages day sessions will kick off with the Vans skate team hosting workshops including learn to skate classes with Jesse Noonan of Rock N Slide Skateboarding, grip tape design workshops with Jimmy Roche and a Skate Photography and Videography workshop run by Andrew Mapstone to teach budding skate photographers how to refine their craft. House of Vans Melbourne will also host the launch of the Beach Burrito Co.’s “Tic Taco: Kick” exhibition; a group charity show dedicated to the Sk8-Hi. Showcasing the work of local artists including Andy Murphy, Lauren Webster, Silly Pear and many more with proceeds from sales going towards Skate Aid.

In the evenings, House of Vans Melbourne brings the party for the overage community with Friday evening’s activities punctuated by live performances by Melbourne songstress Ali Barter with support from punk-pop Sydney 4-piece Rackett, formidable emcee Birdz and alt-pop trio Bell City Square. 18+ entry only.

Joining Newcastle heavyweights Trophy Eyes on Saturday evening will be Brisbane punk 3-piece powerhouse Columbus, Riot Grrrl band The Second Sex and Melbourne floor stompers The Quarters. 18+ entry only.

Vans sneaker patch customisation booth will appear alongside street market activations including barber cuts from Uppercut Deluxe, band merchandise and vinyl from Oh! Jean Records, artist zines pop-up Print & Staple by Ha-Ven and skate and BMX hardware from Fast Times Skateboarding and Rampfest BMX.

All sessions at House of Vans Melbourne will feature demos from the Vans Australia skateboarding and BMX teams on the drop-in, 6’ mini ramp. Beverages throughout the event will be provided by Sailor Jerry’s, Gage Road Brewery and Little Green Cider with food from Taco Truck.
