A horde of action sports marketing zombies are gathered in Huntington Beach, California today (August 3, 2010) for group Y’s second annual Action Sports Conference where they will share ideas on how to strip more meat off the bones of action sports.
If you’re hungry for action flesh and want to learn how to transform youthful passion into corporate cash then by all means, follow along with Transworld Business as they “Cover It Live”. Follow the jump for the tweeting details.
Nice work Group Y, get a bunch of industry people to shell out $300 each so they can big business america how to whore out the core boardsport market. nice work industry for keeping the light on and attracting the flys. don’t bitch when ballpark and gatorade replace your favorite clothing and board brands.
I was there. Very few were big businesses in attendence since a majority were action sports industry professionals.
I think if you were there you’d have a different view on what you said. Yeah, in a way non-endemic compannies are exploiting the industry, but doesn’t it also get more people interested and involved at the same time? In other words, isn’t the love of action sports now being shared
I’m not saying I agree with corpo America moving in on the scene, but as long as they are educated and doing it right, I don’t see a problem with it.
How many times can people have the same debate before they get bored with it for God’s sake? If all you can do is flap your gums…is it worth it? I’d say at this point the answer is a clear no. Nothing is going to change and as long as the broader youth market is interested in action sports, yes, the non-endemics are going to have interest…
“horde of marketing zombies” … “hungry for action sports flesh” …really? What’s the view like from that ivory tower of Apple stock? You should have been there to hear Palladini break down the balance between authenticity and growth…maybe you’d learn something and polish up your expired views of the market. Might make this site relevant, but then again …sitting at home all day to copy and past press releases with a spoonful of snark does sound like a ton of fun…I could def be fulfilled by doing that for years on end.
Yeah, what she said.
