The Tahoe faithful gathered again at Donner Ski Ranch today (March 27, 2010) for the Legends of Tahoe party and competition. This year’s comp: a GS race for pre-1993 snowboards. Norm Saylor was noticeably absent from the proceedings (although he watched the whole thing from his deck), Tom Burt was ageless as usual, and Pastor Jim Rippey (on the blue course) slayed the GS to edge Salty Peak’s Dennis Nazari for the win.

Inducted into official Tahoe Legend status at the end of the day where Billy Olson, Kirsten Bedard, ISM Founder Tom Hsieh, and snowboard event organizer Tom Collins. As Hsieh said during his acceptance speech, “Shaun White may be the world’s most important snowboarder, but he’s only that because he stands on all on your shoulders.”

The names of the inductees will be added to the perpetual Legends of Tahoe trophy on display in the Donner Ski Ranch lodge.

I’m really sorry I missed out yesterday. Congratulations to all the inductees, especially Tom Hsieh, Jr., The Godfather of snowboarding journalism. I’ve still got my first issue of Absolutely Radical and treasure it. Glad they decided to surprise Tom, that was really cool.

Can’t believe Chantry got dead last but I see he never started so what’s new?

What a list of competitors. Where are Sims and Barfoot? Got to get them there next year for sure. We’ll let Sims set the course.

Congrats to Tom Collins and all others and especially Tom Burt with the 3rd place finish on his 86′ Reflex with no high-backs! Thanks to Bostick and Collins and all others for putting together another great event.

Hey all…Looks like we missed aother great event…Way to go inductee’s…Tom Hsieh…. it’s been a long time (FYI one of your/my buddies George Clark just spent the weekend with us here in Vail…with close to 2 feet of fresh!) since the “Zele” Rocky Mtn Snowboard Series!!…hey what about a dual next year so I can show up and finally take “Roach and Ranquet” on one on one and who knows maybe the Palm too and get another full page in a SB mag! ha ha…I am sure I can beat at least Chantry since he never starts…problem may be that Christy and I will want to help run the event…. it’s in our blood…(:-…….Way to Go TC U deserve it man!!…Aloha

Incredible event and it was great to see all the old cronies living it up like it was 1985. The organizers should all be inducted for keeping tradition and history going in what appears to be a living Hall of Fame. All of you are legends in my book–that’s the way I would write it–ISM style.

Thank you again for the honor and for keeping the good times rolling.

Thanks for the comments Kevin and Ted.
