Some snowboarders who looked like they had no idea what they were doing started an avalanche in Italy.
A walker who had seen (and filmed) the accident, called police who conducted a four hour search using dogs, heat seeking equipment and a helicopter. While officers were unable to find the snowboarding trio, it is believed they escaped unhurt.
This is a perfect reminder to avoid stopping in slide zones and to be clear before someone drops in above you.
Okay, we’re not going to lie. . . this whole thing is kind of weirding us out. But as Hannah says, “It’s fun to be sexy.” Guess all this sexiness will help Hannah make more money for her village in Africa.

No shock here, but according to Forbes.com Shaun White is tied with South Korean ice skater Kim Yu-Na as the highest paid Winter Olympians. Forbes says the two made $8 million last year.
There’s nothing better than a gushing write-up in the nation’s largest daily newspaper and USA Today writer Bruce Horovitz does it up proper with Jake Burton (not to imply that he doesn’t deserve it). It is rare to see newspaper profiles so filled with love. It’s almost like Horovitz works in Burton PR.
This is Jake Burton’s life — a major cool one. . . As the founder, cultural guru and chief prankster of the world’s largest snowboard company — and the guy who almost single-handedly turned snowboarding into a multibillion-dollar sport — he’s got a lot to do. Like snowboard 100 days a year. And surf for another 50, or so.
We all know the rest of the story story, but for a reminder read it all. It almost sounds too good to be true.
Apparently, the Burton Canadian Open was going on this weekend up in the Great White North somewhere (WinSport Canada’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta). When the Snow Industries of America announced it was moving the SIA Trade Show to Denver after a few decades in Las Vegas we were not happy about it. In fact, every time we thought about making travel plans for SIA 2010 we remembered where it was being held and put it off to another day.
Having spent part of a late January in Denver in the past, complete with 30 below zero temps and 50 mph winds nearly blowing us off the highway, we weren’t looking forward to making the trek. No matter how many times C3 Worldwide president and SIA Board Secretary Bob Gundrum listed the reasons why the show would be better without the all-night partying and drinking that Vegas delivers, all we could think about was those $49 flights, $35 hotel rooms and nights at the Hard Rock’s Center Bar. After 20 years in Las Vegas we had it down and weren’t into everything changing.
But that was before the show. Now, at the other end of four days with friends in one of the nicest, cleanest, convention centers in the world, we’ve mostly forgotten about the rest. And there was a lot to forget. Police storming our hotel the night before we arrived, the drug dealers who said “Hey,” as we walked down the street, the pimp having words with two of his employees in the lobby of our hotel, bums fighting in McDonald’s at 8 in the morning, and Denver’s general urban-blighted-ghetto feel faded into the background. We left town with a much more positive view of the SIA venue change and it seems we’re not alone.
