There’s no surf in South Africa, so how about a little snowboarding with Nick Visconti, Curtis Woodman, Jason Robinson and Stevie Bell at Mt. Hood, Oregon where the winter never ends.
In March, 2011 we mentioned that Bob and Cheryl Zider, the parents of 15-year-old snowboarder who died from snow suffocation while snowboarding at Tahoe, were holding a design competition to help find a binding that would have allowed their 15-year-old son Chris to separate from his snowboard after falling. They hope a new design could help save lives.
The Zider’s have now picked four finalists in the competition. Scott Nisbet, Brad Brinson, Thomas Trudel, and Adam Weisberg all have designs that they thing could win them the $10,000 prize. Click on their names to view the designs and let us know what you think in the comments. We’re not sure there’s anything in the designs to get all that excited about.
Don’t kid yourself. There’s money in storing other people’s kids. Woodward Camps knows better than most that there is almost no end to the stacks parents will drop to put their kids somewhere else for a week or 10 each year. So, in order to get more parents to spend more money Woodward is partnering with Boreal Resort on Woodward Tahoe set to launch in the summer of 2012, according to a post on the Boreal website.
Gary Ream, President and long-time leader and creative force behind Woodward explains, “Woodward Tahoe will bring a brand new set of experiences and opportunities to everyone who visits Boreal. As Woodward continues to grow its presence in winter sports, Tahoe is the perfect next step. We have learned a great deal from our success at Copper. Bringing “The Woodward Experience” to Boreal will be a great opportunity and an exciting adventure for all of us.”

Reuter’s mountain resort career began in the late 1950’s in Squaw Valley after a long career as a trapper and logger in the Lassen Park area, Dalzell said. . . Reuter helped fall trees to clear ski runs at Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley and worked as a ski patrol leader at Squaw Valley during the 1960 Winter Olympics where he met his wife, Jeanne, and started a family.

Future garments are under design, the upcoming season’s line is under production, and sales meetings abound, with independent representatives as well as a network of retailers. . . . “For sure, this is the busiest time of year for many of our departments,” Jesse Grandkoski of the Airblaster brand emailed from Taiwan.
