Josh visited Kevin Kowalski at his very own backyard bowl (which is more like a private skatepark) to rip though an afternoon upon the challenging and unique terrain nestled along the Oregon Coast. Ready for more concrete and pool block, Josh followed up with an evening skate session at Phil Tedder’s bowl before he flew back home the next morning. This young gun is on the rise!
Check the video and you’ll understand exactly why.
The ATL Twins, Brandon Biebel, Harmony and Rachel Korine, and Chad Muska all together following the premiere of Korine’s film Spring Breakers. Maybe someday we’ll understand why. Until then, we’ll just blame it all on Chris Nieratko.
Nick Tucker, the skater who grew up in SD and moved to LA, is now on Supra. And the team is hyped.
“I’ve known Nick since he was just a li’l guy coming up from San Diego,” fellow SUPRA team rider Kevin Romar said. “It’s dope to have a homie you’ve known for a long time on the same team as you. Congrats Nick, you earned it. Welcome to the team.”
Got three words for this skate stopper remover: stop, drop, and roll. Seems like a man so good with power tools would have learned that in kindergarten. Guess not.
In celebration of the Thrasher Magazine Death Match(March 15, 2013), Converse is releasing 240 pairs of this “limited-edition” Converse Texas CTS, apparently. Guess Orange is a big color in Texas sporting or something.
Performance features of the Converse Texas CTS include a molded, multi-density Lunarlon drop-in sockliner for extra comfort; abrasion-resistant suede; traction rubber vulcanized sole; and full memory foam in the collar and tongue for a true customized fit. . . Only 240 pairs of the Converse Texas CTS will be exclusively available in Texas and will be sold at Nice Kicks, Tekgnar, and Fast Forward for a suggested retail price of $65.
If only these things had a little, inset, white star on the side. We’d be all over them. Follow the jump for the official details. [click to continue…]
Confession: our first “real” skateboard was a purple, anodized aluminum Banzai Skateboard. Got it for Christmas after dreaming about it for months. It had both nose and tail kick long before it was cool. It rolled smoothly and quietly and it hooked us for life. Every feeling of stoke we had for that board, came flooding back when we saw Lost’s new Hesher Metal Cruisers. It appears we’re not the only one’s with anodized aluminum fantasies.
“The earliest memories from my skateboarding days in the 70’s are of riding my Banzai aluminum double kick skateboard,” said Matt “Mayhem” Biolos. “Flashy fun from the past is the polar opposite of all the plastic stuff so many brands are putting out. We wanted to do something special and exquisite.”
And it seems they have. The boards come in four anodized colors with laser cut logos, translucent, color-matched wheels, and die cut grip. The Hesher Metal Cruisers are sold only as completes for $149 a pop. Banzai, indeed.
And unnamed Spokane, Washington man allegedly attacked his neighbor with a machete and then fled into Hillyard Skateboards tearly this morning (March 13, 2013) where he holed up for seven hours while police negotiators tried to talk him into coming out, according to the Spokesman Review.
Officers called in SWAT and hostage negotiation teams. . . “For a period of time we thought there was another person in there as the suspect was actually holding up a mannequin behind a window and talking back and forth as if there was two people,” Arleth said. . . Police shot gas canisters into the business and tried to contact the man via loudspeaker. . . Arleth said they could hear the man speaking but that he never directly responded to the negotiators.
When officers finally got inside the man attempted to stab the officers with a 3-foot-long wooden spear. Spokane locals will not be surprised by the notion that police believe a controlled substance and/or mental health issues may be to blame.
Stoked Mentoring is getting board beyond belief on March 24, 2013 as 100 people will “join our youth to snowboard in Big Bear, then surf in Santa Monica, and lastly skateboard along the boardwalk – all in one day in what they’re calling the Trishredathon.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 for STOKED’s programs that serve low-income youth in Los Angeles. The Kelly Clark Foundation, Asymbol, Zoo York, Flat Fitty and 20 other supporters have already raised nearly $10,000. We’re almost there! You can help us. Click here to donate.
