Interior decorators hoping to tap into modern youth design (and maybe spice up junior’s Pottery Barn room) have created a skateboard pendant light, according to a post on Technabob.
Though with its thin 24″ acrylic deck and narrow aircraft cables suspending it from its chrome canopy, I wouldn’t recommend trying to hop on it, unless you’re a hamster – or maybe a kitten.
Thing would probably look great hanging over a chrome and smoked glass dinning room table, too. We picture the table surrounded by hairy, mustachioed men in leisure suits and women in flouncy polyester Donna Summer dresses. Yes, the 70 are back. The light is available from eLights for only $178.00.

German pro skateboarder Philipp Schuster has turned his “remount hunting retreat in Salzburg, German” into a smallish indoor training facility, according to a post on Dornob.com.
After stripping out the parts already falling apart, Schuster reintegrated traditional elements that fit the typology of a rural German residence, but woven together with new ramps and bumps for skateboarding throughout.
Love the fire place. Follow the jump to see more. . . [click to continue…]

The world’s largest snowboard company (Burton, duh) has partnered with the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. owned Pottery Barn Teen on an “an exclusive home collection” according to a story on Pymnts.com.
The new collection will be available through the PBteen catalog, e-commerce site PBteen.com and at the six PBteen stores beginning this September through the 2012 holiday season. . . The new Burton home collection includes bedding, lighting, lounge seating, wall décor and accessories for tweens and teens. The collection features patterns and prints inspired from Burton’s popular apparel line. Some highlights include: a quilt which is comprised of 12 t-shirt logos from Burton’s current and past seasons, as well as a duvet cover modeled after a Burton snowboard jacket with authentic details like zippers and pockets. The Burton home collection also includes wall murals featuring images of Burton Team Riders: Danny Davis, Gabi Viteri, Hannah Teter, Jussi Oksanen, and Nicolas Muller.
This stuff actually looks really good. If Pottery Barn is going to do snowboarding, they might as well do it right. Same for Burton.

Big man about design Aaron Draplin has created a line of T-shirts especially for Patagonia that feature a nice mix between their logo and Draplin’s tried, true, red, white, and blue-collar American stylings. They’ve been out for a while, but we just noticed them.
In classic Draplin fashion mentioned the shirts on Twitter like this:
“Had a @Patagonia jacket in high school! Saved for it. Super nice. Was proud to roll up the sleeves for them.”
We’re glad he did because they’re the most attractive Patagonia shirts we’ve ever seen. The above Ts are the Outline Logo, the GPIW Equipment, and the Diamond C. They retail for $35 and are available online right now.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with snowboarding, skateboarding, or surfing but so what. Aaron Draplin is interesting. The designs he creates are interesting, and more than that, the stories he tells are interesting (even after the third of fourth telling). So here. . . get interested in the Field Notes story.

Victor Perez has been skateboarding since 1977. He was sponsored by Kryptonics and Santa Cruz in the 198o’s but as with many skaters his interests turned to art. His latest work is the Sk8Lamp, a series of high-end lighting centered around skateboard inspired shapes and reclaimed lighting fixtures.
Sk8lamps is different. It’s about the repurposing of otherwise discarded materials to a new, improved state. The lamps are constructed of used or rejected decks, wheels and trucks that have either fulfilled or cannot fulfill their intended purposes. The electrical pieces are removed from devices no longer deemed aesthetically pleasing and given extended life. It’s more than a recycled skateboard, a recycled lamp, or a recycled idea. It is Upcycling. The Upcycling is art. The Art is unique.
The work pictured at right is titled the Rolling Verical Cheese and it’s for sells for $315. To check out more click the link.

Apple has always used surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding to show off their latest products and sometimes we like to think that it was because if Steve Jobs wasn’t so busy changing the world, he would have spent a little more time doing one or two of the things we all love.
It would take days to list all the ways Steve Jobs has directly and indirectly influenced the way we as an industry do everything, from art, to photography, to video, and product design. We’d just like to say, thank you for everything. Thanks for changing the world. We couldn’t have done it without you. Seriously.
We were happy to know that “Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.” To leave a message or memory of Steve Jobs email it to rememberingsteve@apple.com.
