After being gone for nearly a year Signal Snowboard’s Every Third Thursday is back with a little taste from of our collective digital futures. Here’s how they’re pitching it:
Decentralized currency, hyper loop travel, and yes, smart wearables and shreddables. After almost a year off from the last ETT, No Board Left Behind, we bring you the first LED progammable base.
Ground effects, dawg. It’s the perfect board for those times we’d like to communicate from the lift. We kinda want one. . . [Link: Signal Snowboards]
Marc McKee is one of the nicest, most modest, talented visual artists ever to grace the skateboard industry. And when you check out some of the graphics he created during the 90s glory days of World Industries that can be a bit of a mind slip because his artwork stirred it up so hard. But just click play and let him tell you all about Big Brother magazine, how he created Flameboy, Wet Willy, Devil man, and so much more.
Jesse Loomis, the purveyor of PowderJet Snowboards has finally teamed up with artist Scott Lenhardt for some snowboard graphics. Here, we’ll let him explain:
We’ve been best bros and riding buddies since the early ’90’s. I build custom snowboards in Vermont. He’s an artist that’s done over 50 snowboard graphics for some legendary boards, among many other rad projects. We’ve never teamed up on a graphic until last week, and it was an amazing experience. I had three boards to ship out to Milosport SLC, and Scott was lurking here after a Xmas visit. We finally got it together, and Scotty painted the raddest graphics we’ve ever had on a PowderJet. It brings a tear to the eye.
These three hand painted boards will be available at Milo as soon as Loomis can get them there. Anyone who is interested in more information should email Jesse at PowderJet Snowboards. But better hurry, because these boards are going to go fast. For a look at the boards, follow the jump.

We all know where Supreme got their logo. Yes, they “appropriated” it from artist Barbara Kruger from the beginning. But now, she’s taking skateboarding back with a little help from Volcom in a pop-up shop of her own as part of Performa, a performance art biennial that runs through November 19 in New York, according to a story in W Magazine.
“Believe me, I wasn’t thinking about Supreme,” Kruger said of her Performa commission. “Really, I was not thinking about it at all. I’ve just been doing my thing for a long time, and they popped up and did theirs, and I don’t own that typeface, you know? I don’t own a logo. But what they do has little to do with the ideas that have been fueling my artwork for my whole career—questions of justice and power and control. The last thing I would ever think of is a streetwear brand.”
And that’s why we’ve always preferred Kruger. Another part of her Perform commission was this work at Coleman Skate Park.
The all-ages day sessions will kick off with the Vans skate team hosting workshops including learn to skate classes with Jesse Noonan of Rock N Slide Skateboarding, grip tape design workshops with Jimmy Roche and a Skate Photography and Videography workshop run by Andrew Mapstone to teach budding skate photographers how to refine their craft. The workshops will run over both Friday and Saturday with limited capacity: registration is essential. Saturday afternoon will see a stripped-back, musical performance from Little Brother (Trophy Eyes’ John Floreani) with support from Alex Moses (Columbus).

Did you think GoPro’s new QuikStories auto-editing app was a partnership with Quiksilver? So did we. Maybe it was the missing “c,” or the scribble type. Though on reflection we realized that who ever designed the QuikStories logo was probably still in middle school when Natas Kapas created his Ralph Steadmanesque blown ink “impaired” logo work for Quiksilver. Maybe it’s a tribute. . .
