by The Editors on March 21, 2012

Bethany-Hamilton TubsThe world’s most famous shark survivor Bethany Hamilton got a chance to share the aloha with a group of overly large people when she attempted to teach contestants on The Biggest Loser how to surf, according to a story on People.com.

“I surprised them on the beach,” Hamilton, 22, tells PEOPLE of the episode that aired March 20 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. “They were super excited and maybe a little nervous, but I think they were just so stoked to be there.”

Yes, sea water is reportedly good for large people. We’ve heard it makes them feel weightless plus, there’s probably no safer place to be in the ocean than surrounded by big, thick, juicy people. Click here to watch the full episode.

Bethany Hamilton Gets Arm Finned

by The Editors on June 27, 2011

Bethany TahitiWhile on a Rip Curl trip to the Mentawai Bethany Hamilton reportedly sliced her bicep last week (June 21, 2011), according to a story on The Christian Post. A letter from the family described the following:

On a wipeout her surfboard fin sliced her bicep, she got 10 stitches, but now has some numbness in her arm which is a bit concerning. She is on her way to Singapore to get checked out by a physician on her way home. We have appointments with physicians in Hawaii as well, whom she will see immediately when she gets home. We talked to Dr Rovinsky (Bethany’s surgeon after she lost her arm) here on Kauai and he said it’s likely that she cut a nerve during the incident, she may have to have surgery to repair it.

Hopefully, it won’t be anything permenent.

Bethany Hamilton’s Soul Surfer Trailer

by The Editors on February 2, 2011

The most recent screenings of the Bethany Hamilton biopic Soul Surfer have been getting some pretty good reviews. A story in Variety yesterday says the pre-release press has been so good that producers have been able to get the film a much wider opening than was originally planned.

But something curious happened along the way to the pic’s April 8 release date. “Everyone started liking the film,” McNamara said, “so we were able to hire better talent above and below the line. Once they saw the finished product, they decided to release it to 2,000 theaters and made a $26 million P&A commitment.”

The film stars Anna Sophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, and Dennis Quaid. Guardian UK is saying (based on the trailer above) that this film has something for everyone. We’re looking forward to it.
