Shaun White’s Got Halfpop Flavor

by The Editors on October 1, 2015

Shaun White has launched a couple new flavors for the half popped popcorn brand Halfpop (corn nuts). Kind of makes us hungry, but not for Brooklyn Dill Pickle, if you know what we mean. No offense, Shaun.

The master suite sports a free-standing soaking tub and a glass-enclosed rain shower for four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Shaun White Out Peddling Air & Style Tickets

by The Editors on January 30, 2015

Looks like X Games 4th place finisher Shaun White is having a little trouble drumming up sales for his upcoming Air & Style event in the Rose Bowl parking lot (not the bowl) in Pasadena, California in February (you know, “Coachella meets X Games”). Either that, or he just likes having local news crews (San Diego CBS 8) follow him around to his favorite Mexi joints.

The famous Snowboarder was at one of his favorite taco shops this morning – Ricos Taco Shop in Encinitas to surprise fans and promote Air + Style. . . The event features a combination of the world’s greatest snowboarders, skiers and skateboarders, as well as live performances from some of the top music acts.

With Mr. Blanco it seems the hustle never stops. Truth is, with a music line up featuring the Lips (both Black and Flaming), Sleigh Bells, Surfer Blood, Steve Aoki, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and more it’s going to be a great show regardless of the hucking going on the crushed ice tower. Shaun White Brings Air + Style To Pasadena

by The Editors on October 17, 2014

This morning, while we were out plowing furrows in tiny waves with our Lib Tech Air-E-Ola waterboard, Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White was making a huge announcement at Southern California’s Rose Bowl. Apparently, Shaun and his friends are going to put on an Air + Style event at the Rose Bowl on February 21 – 22, 2015, according to a post on Yobeat.

“It’s pretty crazy, and it’s come a long way since we first started brainstorming the idea of bringing Air & Style to the U.S. last year,” White told ESPN. “Now it’s official: We’re doing the third stop of the tour for Air & Style at the Rose Bowl, and we picked that venue because Los Angeles is my hometown. A lot of people in Pasadena probably have never even seen snow, but that’s the beauty of it.”

This event will feature skiers, Shaun White on rhythm guitar, and no Shaun White in the contest. And general admission floor seats will only cost $189. (Reminds us of an old Steve Martin bit). Guess the big questions is: does anyone in SoCal want to spend one-third the price of a Mammoth Mountain season pass to watch a bunch of Euro huckers they’ve never heard of spin off a monstrous jump to a edm backbeat? For that answer we’ll all have to wait until February and see.

Shaun White Finally Goes To Prom

by The Editors on May 5, 2014

SideboobLast month a high school senior named Carly Monzo decided she wanted to go to prom (at her all-girl high school) with Shaun White.

So, Carly did what any self respecting high school girl would do. She made a video (click here to watch it) asking the former Olympic snowboarder to her prom, according to a story on NBC Philadelphia.

After a month with no response, Monzo figured her video was lost in the millions of tweets that her celeb crush normally receives. It’s a belief she held Friday night when she attended her prom at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. . . That all changed once she arrived and a school staffer called out her name. . . “I thought I was in trouble,” Monzo said. “I went out to the front and then all of a sudden the curtain on this photo booth dropped.” . . Behind the curtain was none other than White and his band “Bad Things.”

Rad to see how dressed up Monzo got without having a date. Guess that’s what makes Catholic School girls so, ah, . . oh, forget it. Follow the jump for her video. [click to continue…]

Shaun White Drops Slope For Pipe

by The Editors on February 4, 2014

After analyzing the slopestyle course in Sochi and calculating exactly what he needs to accomplish at the 2014 Winter Olympics Shaun White has withdrawn from the slopestyle event to “focus on winning an unprecedented third straight gold.”

“After much deliberation with my team, I have made the decision to focus solely on trying to bring home the third straight gold medal in halfpipe for Team USA,” White said. “The difficult decision to forego slopestyle is not one I take lightly as I know how much effort everyone has put into holding the slopestyle event for the first time in Olympic history, a history I had planned on being part of.”

It’s too bad the halfpipe didn’t come first in the schedule. For the official word from US Snowboarding follow the jump.

Shaun White Digging Russia’s Olympic Food

by The Editors on February 3, 2014

White Russianfood

How is Shaun White preparing for the Olympic Games? He took to Twitter to show that he’s been dining on a local delicacy saying: “Food in Russia is amazing! #McSochi” Wonder if this is part of a “viral marketing” campaign? Might as well get paid to eat, too.

Shaun White And The Olympic Trick Wall

by The Editors on January 2, 2014

In business, barriers to entry are a good thing for well financed companies. Anything that can make it difficult for competitors is great. The same goes with Olympic snowboarding. Shaun White (with the help of GoPro) can spend a hundred grand to build and staff his own halfpipe, inflate an airbag, and spend a week just to add another 180 to his big trick rotation. That’s a pretty big wall to slam down in front of his competitors. Will it work? Guess we’ll all find out in Sochi (if the pipe doesn’t get destroyed in some terrorist plot).

Shaun White Didn’t Win Pipe, Sat Out Slope

by The Editors on December 16, 2013

Greg Bretz Mens Snowboard Pipe Finals Ion Mountain Championships-1-3

This weekend officially kicked of the competitive snowboarding “I-want-to-go-to the-Olympics” season with the flame retardant, mouse dissolving, caffeinated, carbonated high fructose corn syrup event at Breckenridge, Colorado December 12-15, 2013.

It was the weekend of Shaun White’s nemeses. Thanks to an ankle injury in the halfpipe final (again) Shaun White finished second behind a hard charging Greg Bretz (pictured above). Then White decided to sit out the slope style event which was taken by Olympic Gold Medal favorite Mark McMorris. It would appear Shaun is already plotting out a dramatic Olympic storyline.

On the women’s side Torah Bright edged Kelly Clark in the pipe (Elena Hight didn’t land a run, sadly and Hannah Teter didn’t make the final finishing 16th in qualifying). Jamie Anderson did her usual by dominating the Slopestyle. For the complete, easy to read results, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
