Desillusion Magazine is presenting a film by Guiherme Guimaraes titled The Self Portrait Project.
Fabiano Rodrigues was born in Santos, São Paulo, 1974. He approached photography through skateboarding, first appearing in photographs as a professional skateboarder, while performing maneuvers through out Brazil and Europe. The interest in composition, in motion capture and architecture, propelled him to photograph other skaters in the city, so as to be recognized both as a photographer and as a skater. In search of a language capable of accomplishing his expressive and performatic ambitions, Fabiano has been developing since 2010 his own research of self-portraits, all clicked through his skateboard performances. . . Shooting with a Hasselblad camera using a remote control, he records the apex of his own motion in a previously planned framework. These photographs are always one off prints, exploring the history and repertoire of skateboarding movements, particularly its relationship with the city, its architecture and urban furniture.
The rest is pretty self explanatory.

It came down to the wire, but on October 5, 2013, at the end of the final day of the final event of the 2013 Women’s ASP Tour at the EDP Cascais Girls Pro presented by Billabong that Hawaii’s Carissa Moore clinched her second ASP World Title just ahead of Australian Tyler Wright.
In one of the closest battles for the world surfing crown that the ASP has ever witnessed, the Hawaiian and Australian went blow-for-blow in 2013, collecting five victories of the first seven events between them. . . “This title is much sweeter as it was so close with Tyler (Wright),” Moore said. “She’s so young, but so strong and fearless when it comes to competition. She can always come back and really pushed me to work my hardest this year. I won some different events this season and it all amounted to a really meaningful year for me.”
Congrats to Carissa. For the official word from the ASP, follow the jump. [click to continue…]

If you don’t remember, ask you dad, but there was time (back in the glory days of the Upland Pipeline) when it seemed everyone rolled on Kryptonics. Big, soft, fast primary colored RGB Kryptonics. And now, thanks to Dusters California (a.k.a Dwindle’s retro longboard division) the wheels are back with The Force.
Three durometers of wheels will be released in the original sizes and shapes, plus one new size. The iconic Kryptonics Star*Trac 70mm red wheel was faster than any other wheel and able to roll over small boulders. The original will be developed and enhanced by adding a 75mm size to the new Kryptonics Star*Trac wheel collection. Perfect for your favorite downhill run, boardwalk cruise or your daily commute. Roll fast, roll long!
Want to get that authentic retro roll, then these just might be the wheels you’re looking for. For the official word from Dusters, follow the jump.

Mick Fanning stuck to his speed surfing guns to survive a non-stop aerial assault from Brazilian Gabriel Medina to win his fourth Quiksilver Pro France on Friday, October 4, 2013. Fanning grabbed the first wave and continue to lay down the solid contest surfing while Medina tried all his tricks. Sadly, for the Medina, he had trouble landing his backflip and several other airs that could have made the difference.
Fanning was beside himself. “I’m pretty emotional. Oh my god. I’ve drawn an ace,” Fanning said on the beach. “I never got into rythymn until this morning. for the guys I had to go through in the contest, this is amazing. And Gabi is such an incredible kid. Even with 20 seconds to go I was still wearing brown underwear.”
Both surfers were relentless during the final cranking out 26 scored waves for the judges to mull over. For the official world from the ASP including complete results, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
