Los Angeles, CA – FUEL TV, the only network dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports, is proud to webcast the most anticipated skate contest of the year, the 2009 Maloof Money Cup, in high definition quality. On Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, viewers will be able to watch the webcast of the second annual Maloof Money Cup semi finals and finals live on FUEL TV’s website at www.fuel.tv/maloofmoneycup.

“FUEL TV is extremely pleased with the addition of the Maloof Money Cup to FUEL TV’s webcasting slate,” says Gene Pao, FUEL TV’s Vice President of New Media and International Development. “With the line-up of amazing skaters and the huge prize purse, this contest is being viewed as the premier skate event of the year. FUEL TV will present it to the world using the highest quality live-event production and video delivery technologies available.”

“We’re excited to be broadening our partnership with FUEL TV,” says Tim McFerran, GM of the Maloof Money Cup. “FUEL TV has been a superb television partner, airing the Maloof Money Cup last year. Based on the success of that partnership, we’ve expanded our relationship to include the live HD webcast and extensive marketing. We recognize that FUEL TV and the Maloof Money Cup can help both organizations enhance their mutual positions among skateboarding enthusiasts.”

The Maloof Money Cup offers the largest purse in the history of professional skateboarding with nearly $450,000 in cash and prizes, which is awarded in three formats: the Carl’s Jr. Pro Vert Championship, the Zoo York Pro Street Championship and the U.S. Women’s Pro Street Championship. And don’t miss the excitement as the world’s best amateurs battle it out in the World Industries Amateur Street and Vert Championship.

Last year in the Maloof Money Cup’s Pro Street final, Paul Rodriguez won the largest amount ever awarded for a skate contest, taking home $100,000. Pro vert rider Pierre-Luc Gagnon won a $75,000 purse in the Vert finals.

In only the second year, the Maloof Money Cup has established itself as the premier showcase for professional and amateur skateboarding. The three-day festival, created in 2008 by the Maloof family, owners of the Sacramento Kings and the Palms Hotel & Hotel and Casino, features the most impressive and comprehensive group of skaters ever assembled for a competition. The 2009 event will be held at the Orange County Fair & Event Center during the opening weekend of the OC Fair, July 10-12.

FUEL TV has successfully executed several live HD quality webcasts this spring—most recently the Pro-Tec Pool Party. In addition, FUEL TV produced the first full HD webcast of a skate contest, the Tampa Pro, in March. In all cases, FUEL TV has utilized video technology from Move Networks that provides video delivery rates up to 2.4 Mbps, more than three times the encoding rate of traditional technologies.

FUEL TV also offers a limited selection of full-length episodes of its programming in HD Streaming on its web site. Viewers can watch HD versions of shows such as “New Pollution” and “Firsthand” using the same HD player as is used for the 2009 Maloof Money Cup webcast. FUEL TV intends to offer “heats on demand” immediately following the live webcast.

Make sure to watch the FUEL TV HD webcast of the Maloof Money Cup on Saturday, July 11 from 6:30pm PT to 9:30pm PT, and Sunday July 12 from 1:00pm PT to 7:15pm PT. For all the action and more information, log on to www.fuel.tv/maloofmoneycup.
