Element Sends 300 Skaters To Camp

by The Editors on July 12, 2018

In 2018 Element Skateboards is passing out 300 skate camp scholarships to deserving skateboarders from around the world. And it all stems from founder Johnny Schillereff’s love of skate camp when he was growing up.

“I moved around a lot and did not have much stability when I was young. That camp and skateboarding were the only constants in my life,” Schillereff says. “Being able to share skateboarding and the outdoors with kids who are in a similar situation that I was is so important to both Element and me personally. We couldn’t be more excited to make this contribution to the skateboarding community. This year, Element will send over 300 kids to skate camps around the world.”

How’s that for giving back to skateboarding by giving back to skateboarding? For the official word from Element, please follow the jump.

ELEMENT SKATEBOARDS ANNOUNCES SKATE CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2018

Delivering On Its Mission To Send Kids To Skate Camp, Element Provides 300 Scholarships

Irvine, CA (July 10, 2018) – Element Skateboards today announces it is expanding on its 15-year history of donating scholarships to skateboard camps for deserving skateboarders around the world. In 2018, Element will be donating 300 skate camp scholarships – more than in its 25-year history.

Founded in 1992 by Johnny Schillereff, Element’s purpose is to be a positive force through the avenues of skateboarding, the arts, and nature.

Element’s relationship with skate camp started well before Element was launched. Johnny’s family camp in New Hampshire was his only constant during a tumultuous childhood. “I moved around a lot and did not have much stability when I was young. That camp and skateboarding were the only constants in my life. Being able to share skateboarding and the outdoors with kids who are in a similar situation that I was is so important to both Element and me personally. We couldn’t be more excited to make this contribution to the skateboarding community. This year, Element will send over 300 kids to skate camps around the world”, Johnny Schillereff, Founder.

Together with the premiere skate camps in the USA, Element’s own skate camps in Spain, Japan, South Africa and now Australia, skate shop partners, and the Element skateboards team, hundreds of deserving kids have been and will be chosen to receive the unforgettable experience of skate camp with support from Element.

Element would like to thank the following camps for their generosity and shared vision in making skate camp accessible to scholarship recipients:

Windell’s
Skate Dogs
All Together Skate Park
Skate Lab
3rd Lair
Skate Park of Tampa
Woodward
Shreducate
Familia
Modern
Plus Skate Park
Tri-Star Skate Park
Skater’s Edge
Basics of Skateboarding
Nyjah Huston’s Skate Park
Southside Skate Park
Theory Skate Park
6th Ave Skate Park

A portion of proceeds from select Element skateboards, apparel and the “Camp Collection” of bags are allocated to Element’s skate camp scholarship fund each year. Element would like to thank all of our global retailers and customers who purchased these products, help send kids to skate camp, and make a positive impact on the skateboarding community!
