For the official word on the October 3, 2015 Artists Republic Gallery Expression Session 3 opening follow the jump.This Saturday, (October 3, 2015) Artists Republic Gallery welcomes the return of Expression Session… our annual show curated by Will Pennartz celebrating contemporary art in surf culture. This years show has a killer line up… Thomas Campbell, Andy Davis, Tyler Warren and Geoff McFetridge are back from last year, and we welcome Julie Goldstein, Alex Weinstein, Michael Leon, Andrew Holder and Jeff Canham for ES3. From Will: “For Expression Session 3, I wanted to focus on modern surf culture – through several different mediums. The show will strike a balance with original paintings, drawings, sculpture, hand-pulled prints and photography by nine of the leading artists in the scene.”
The artists reception will have Corey Brindley spinning records and as always we will have cold brews from Pizza Port Brewing Company so join us this Saturday, October 1st, from 6 to 9pm!
Also, we have been receiving letters of support for extending the length of time for the Zio Ziegler mural to remain up in Irvine … a huge thank you to those who have written!!! If you were thinking about writing but haven’t yet… please remember that projects like this can only happen if the community shows support… our community leaders won’t approve more public art unless they know that most people who live in the area appreciate and enjoy these things and want more. So please… even if you take one minute and only write a few sentences… please voice your feelings in support of public art in Orange County. Links are further down in the newsletter.
