30LrasThinking about venturing out-of-bounds or into the backcountry this winter? It’s never too early to being thinking about doing it all as safely as possible. The new Jones R.A.S. 30L backpack fits right in there with it’s Snowpulse Removable Airbag System.

“The 30L R.A.S. Ready is the ultimate split board pack for all day missions,” states Jones Snowboards founder Jeremy Jones. “When out for a day it is common to have 30 or 40 pounds on your back. This is where the pack really shines. The harness/carrying system handles weight extremely well and fits everything you need in the backcountry perfectly.”

The pack retails for $299.00 (the Mammut R.A.S. airbag is extra). For the official word from Jones, follow the jump.New Jones 30L R.A.S. Pack Adds Removable Airbag Safety Feature with No Compromises in Backcountry Function

Truckee, CA (November 6, 2013) – If you ride in the backcountry, be ready; be prepared for the moment. Jones Snowboards continues to push this belief front and center with the new Snowpulse Removable Airbag System compatible 30L R.A.S. Ready backcountry pack. The new 30L R.A.S. Ready Pack will be available to consumers Fall/Winter 2013 in select shops around the world.

Weighing in at 6.7lbs when loaded with the R.A.S. (Removable Airbag System), the new Jones 30L R.A.S. Ready Pack has all the technical features of the standard Jones 30L pack combined with additional pockets that hold the Snowpulse R.A.S. system (R.A.S. airbag system sold separately by Mammut). The 30L’s R.A.S. system utilizes a removable compressed air canister that allows you to use the pack with or without the airbag installed. The R.A.S. air canister sold in North America is refillable so you can deploy the bag for transit before a trip and then refill the canister at a refill center at your destination. In Europe, the R.A.S. canister must be exchanged at a Mammut dealer once used.

“From the beginning the expectation was set high from Jeremy Jones that these had to be the perfect backcountry packs,” says Alexei Tcherepanov of Lowercase Designs. “We worked closely with Jeremy and the Jones team on user and field testing to design the original 30L/18L packs to get the perfect fit and function in the backcountry. In adding the airbag system option, we absolutely could not make any sacrifices in the performance and so we selected the Snowpulse R.A.S. system because of its versatility and simplicity. These bags must meet a rigorous testing standard by the European safety organization (TUV Institute) and we were able to incorporate the added safety provided by the Snowpulse system without compromising the function and other features that are so important in the backcountry.”

A lightweight and technical snowboard or split board carrying backcountry pack, the 30L R.A.S. Ready Pack features a large cargo compartment, quick access avalanche tool pockets, padded waist straps with dual hip pockets, fine adjustment shoulder straps, thermo molded neoprene foam back padding, fleece lined goggle pocket, and a back panel zipper for easy access to gear.

Made from ultra durable Dimension polyant ballistic nylon with aramid fiber, the 30L R.A.S. Ready Pack will take a beating and keep performing in the harshest conditions. The 30L is a full day pack that can carry crampons, climbing rope, shovel, probe, snow saw, two axes, skins, an extra layer, food and 70 ounces of hydration.
