82-1The crew at Billabong Snow isn’t letting a little take-over talk slow down one bit. They’re marching right along it seems. They just signed X Games Real Snow candidate Bode Merrill.

“I am convinced that Bode is the most talented snowboarder out there today,” said Billabong Snow Team Manager Andrew Marriner. “Who else can go out on a urban mission in Minnesota and absolutely blow minds then quickly turn around, hop out of a heli seat and shock the Absinthe Film crew in Haines, Alaska?”

Merrill joins Wolle Nyvelt, Tadashi Fuse, Jamie Anderson, Eero Niemela, and Romain De Marchi at Billabong. For the official word follow the jump.IRVINE, CALIFORNIA – (January 14, 2013) — Billabong is lighting up the new year by announcing Bode Merrill as their latest snow team athlete. Merrill has been a dominant force in each and every spectrum of snowboarding in 2012 with inspiring parts in many film projects, including his segment currently in contention in the Real Snow video competition of the Winter X-Games

Merrill was born in Santa Cruz, California but his family soon moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. It was there that Bode and his brother learned to snowboard together, gaining a great deal of backcountry experience from their father who owns and operates a Snow Cat operation out of Park City.

Bode joins Billabong’s talented snow team roster consisting of Wolle Nyvelt, Tadashi Fuse, Olympic contender Jamie Anderson, Eero Niemela, Benji Ritchie, Romain De Marchi, Sylvain Bourbousson, Robbie Walker, Scot Brown, Garrett Warnick, Clint Allan, Helen Schettini and Rebecca Torr.

Merrill will be filming with Absinthe Films this winter along with a series of webisodes produced by Monster Energy.

Billabong is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Bode over the next four years on developing signature outerwear designed and inspired by the Salt Lake City resident who spends his time in the most imposing elements. Billabong’s design team is excited to tailor gear around those conditions that Bode embeds himself in each and every day.

Billabong thrives upon working with athletes that have this much passion for the sport and what they give back to it.
