Seems like the media always takes the same tack with Jack. How could a laid back surfer become a musical powerhouse. Though the obvious answer is: because he creates beautiful music. That’s never enough for a full features in a newspaper. Here, the Times UK’s Robin Eggar interviews Jack Johnson and attempts to make sense of it all.
The first time Jack Johnson made voluntary eye contact with me was the fourth time we met. A couple of glasses of red wine over dinner loosened his tongue from the reserved to the discreet. It’s not that he’s rude – he is painstakingly polite – it’s just that he may be the shyest superstar alive.
