Tom Sims As James Bond

by The Editors on September 13, 2012

The opening sequences of the 1985 James Bond film A View To A Kill featured one of Tom Sims most visible snowboarding moments and helped introduce pop culture to snowboarding. Even in the midst of the hailstorm of bullets, explosions, and chasers you still get a great feel for Sims’ timeless snowboard style.

In such a weird way, the message of the boarder being the good cool guy in white and the skiers being these dark bad guys was such a unique communication in 1985… I mean, shit, who didn’t want to be James Bond… Cheers to the Hollywood exec who thought of that and who better to represent it than Tom Sims.

This scene was largely responsible for me getting into snowboarding almost 30 years ago! James Bond (Tom Sims) taking out the commies on his whaletail! Thank you Tom Sims for the inspiration and making the sport what it is today. Forever RiP!
