Police say Kevin McGarry, 42, of Ocean Township was found face down off the Jersey Shore’s Roosevelt Avenue Beach Wednesday afternoon April 11, 2012. He was wearing a wetsuit and still attached to his surfboard, according to a story on NJ.com.
He is not believed to have been in the water for an extended period of time when a fisherman spotted him near a rocky jetty off of Roosevelt Avenue, said borough police spokesman Capt. Earl Alexander. . . An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow to determine a cause of death, he said.
According to officials, it appears McGarry died “as the result of a surfing accident.” Our thoughts are with McGarry’s family and friends.
