Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro On Time Warner Cable

N6Lp11 Pr New Header SmOrganizers of the Nike 6.0 Lower Pro announced today that for the first time ever, the event will be carried live on Time Warner Cable in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Hawaii.

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) PRIME Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro and ASP 5-Star Oakley Pro Junior will be shown in their in entirety from May 3rd through 7th through a live feed to Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s SURF Channel 250 and 1250HD in Hawaii from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm PST each day. From May 3rd to May 6th Oceanic Time Warner Cable will replay each day’s action after the live portion ends, and it will loop until competition resumes the following day. After the contest finishes on May 7th, Oceanic will replay the entire five-day event on a loop until May 13th. . . Additionally, the Oceanic Time Warner Cable live feed will be transported to Time Warner Cable’s Los Angeles, San Diego and Desert Cities markets.

And that’s great news for people who still have cable, because the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro webcast has been almost unwatchable thanks to incessant stalling and/or dropped connections every 10 seconds.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA (May 4, 2011) — For the first time ever, the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro and Oakley Pro Junior will be broadcast live on television for viewers of Time Warner Cable throughout Hawaii, San Diego and Los Angeles. For the last several years, the prestigious event has been available to the masses through a live webcast at nike6lowerspro.com, but this year, the options for viewing have increased with the addition of the live television broadcast for nearly 2.5 million Time Warner Cable viewers from Los Angeles to Hawaii.

Time Warner Cable will sign on to the live broadcast of the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro and Oakley Pro Junior surfing contest in the following markets:

Los Angeles: Live on SoCal 101, Thursday, May 5th and Friday May 6th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm PST, and re-cablecast from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Live coverage, Saturday, May 7th from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
San Diego: Live on Channel 411, Thursday, May 5th through Saturday, May 7th each day from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, with a re-cablecast each day from 5:00 pm to 7:30 am.
Desert Cities: Live on Channel 111, Thursday, May 5th through Saturday, May 7th each day from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
The Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro has drawn 25 of the World’s Top 34 surfers to Southern California and the world’s best juniors in the Oakley Pro Junior. The combination of a $250,000 prize purse, 14-karat gold trophy, a world-class wave, major points and elite athletes will ensure fierce competition at the famed Southern California surf break.

Both the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro and Oakley Pro Junior will also feature an HD webcast with live video coverage and scoring for all five days of competition with announcers Sal Masekela, Mark Fewell, Dino Andino, Saxon Boucher, Chris Mauro, Brad Gerlach and Jodie Nelson.

The Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro will be televised live and in its entirety in Hawaii on Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s Oceanic SURF Channel 250 and 1250HD and from May 5 to May 7 on Time Warner SoCal Channel 101 in San Diego and Los Angeles.

i dunno…the feed seems to work fine on the time warner connection i have at work, and even better on the FiOS connection i have at home…
