Zumiez Employee Jacked In Mall Parking Lot

by The Editors on November 28, 2010

Zumiez-NotaglineAn employee of a Carlsbad, California Zumiez action mall store was robbed at gun point on Friday evening in the parking lot of the Westfield Plaza Camino Real, according to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The employee told authorities that the suspects were wearing “wrestling-type” masks over their faces and were carrying large semi-automatic handguns. They ran northbound through the parking lot of the shopping center, located at 2525 El Camino Real.

The robbers got away with the employee’s personal property and a Zumiez bank deposit. This is probably one of the reason’s locals call it “The Ghetto Mall.”

Was it just an “employee” bringing the deposit or the manager? I’ve never worked at Zumiez but I did at plenty other major retail stores. What I learned, was to reduce the chance of having the deposit “stolen” was to keep it in the hands of a responsible manager. Not to say that employees are not responsible, but having a manager who puts extra time and energy into their job will have a less of a chance of having the deposit “stolen”.

HENSE THE NAME:::::They refer to it as “MUGGERS MALL ” also !!!! so Tr you aren’t far off -if not another key name for a place that is sketchy. What’s UP CArlsbad PD? your town is sooo fluffy south and west, why the first mall in North County SD history- having the worst rep? The way the Police respond to things(x3 ) you would think they would be doing hotlaps in the parking lot looking for masked people.that mall is notorious for theft in the parking lots.
