Shaun White Not Invited To Winter X 15?

by The Editors on November 17, 2010

010610 -25ESPN just listed the athletes who have been “invited” to their made-for-TV snow sports entertainment festival Winter X Games 15 scheduled for January 27 – 30, 2011 in Aspen, Colorado and Shaun White’s name is not on the list.

We’re not up on the latest TV industry gossip, so we really have no reason to comment other than to say that it seems rude not to invite a gold medalist back. Maybe Shaun’s representatives and ESPN have yet to come to terms on how much he should be paid for appearing on this winter’s episode of the action sports TV series.

A source familiar with the situation said, “It’s not that he wasn’t invited, it’s just that he’s not yet confirmed.”

Luckily, Scotty Lago, Tim Humphreys, and Sebastien Toutant are apparently confirmed. Not to suggest that it will increase the chances of our watching any of the events.

[Editors’ Note: The page headline has been updated to read “WX15 confirmed athletes,” however, Shaun White’s name is still obviously missing from the list.]

@ NigHeist – I have known Shaun for over 7 years. He is a stand-up guy and a true champion. Like everyone, even you, I’m sure he has said or done something to rub someone the wrong way, but his heart is in the right place. I can’t tell you how many times he has been there for me and many others.

He is the best at what he does and has proven it time and again. Like hating on the Yankees, you may not like him because he wins a lot, but bottom line is this; Shaun White is an awesome person and proven winner. You my friend are neither.

@JS-thank you for standing up for your friend. I do not know Shaun personally, but I can say this: If I had an opportunity, I would thank him for years of entertainment and inspiration. Publicly, he seems down to earth and takes up the banner of being a role model with excellence. If he is who he appears to be, he deserves all of the success he has worked for. Next time you see him, tell him thanks for me!
