This story has been written up pretty much everywhere already, but as Podium was nice enough to send out the press release (including this photo of Mike Dunlap and Justin Reyes) we decided we’d throw in our two cents.
Here’s what they’re saying:
Under the terms of the new agreement Billabong will distribute Podium brands DVS, Matix, and Lakai in Australia as well as New Zealand alongside its current line of in-house brands including Element, Nixon, Von Zipper, Kustom Footwear and Plan B. . . .Although Billabong will assume full distribution of Podium’s brands in Australia, the company’s distribution responsibilities in New Zealand will be limited to Billabong’s company retail store channels as well as stores belonging to the Billabong-owned Amazon retail chain.
Looks like step one in a much more meaningful relationship down the road, something no one denied when Podium interviewed itself on Transworld Business.
Chalk up another win for the Bong. Follow the jump for the official release.
Billabong To Distribute Podium Brands DVS, Matix, and Lakai in Australia and New Zealand
Podium Distribution announced today a long-term distribution deal with Australian brand, Billabong.
Under the terms of the new agreement Billabong will distribute Podium brands DVS, Matix, and Lakai in Australia as well as New Zealand alongside its current line of in-house brands including Element, Nixon, Von Zipper, Kustom Footwear and Plan B.
Although Billabong will assume full distribution of Podium’s brands in Australia, the company’s distribution responsibilities in New Zealand will be limited to Billabong’s company retail store channels as well as stores belonging to the Billabong-owned Amazon retail chain.
Podium Distribution VP Of Sales Mike Dunlap says its brands already have a strong footing in the Australian and New Zealand territories and the new partnership with Billabong will only bolster its product sales, mobility, and marketing presence there.
“We are excited at the opportunity to partner up with the Billabong group in Australia and New Zealand, as well as join their strong stable of brands,” says Podium VP of Sales Mike Dunlap. “As a global leader in the action sports industry, especially in their backyard of Oz and New Zealand, we look forward to working with them in establishing DVS, Matix and Lakai as preeminent brands in those countries.”
The distribution deal between the two companies is expected to be finalized by the end of August.

Yeah Right, I have to say that your comment reflects a very jealous and insecure individual. You would be much happier if you worried about your potential success and not the business dealings of others. The Dudes a Podium have worked very hard to build a great business and deserve what ever rewards shall come from the fruits of their labor.
PS: I hear The Saloon is going to start serving Greek Salads for certain haters after work.
