While everyone else was out on the Saturday night party circuit (Kris Markovich art opening in Oside, and Neck Face opening in LA), some of surfing’s elder statesmen gathered at the Surfing Heritage Foundation for the 3rd Annual Summer Surf Film Series (August 16, 2008). Saturday’s feature was Dana Brown’s High Water which chronicles the events surrounding the 2005 Triple Crown of Surfing.

In the VIP room Wes Miller was playing smooth classic hits on his ukelele, Jesse Billhauer was rolling, Jim Kempton was signing copies of his book Surfing: The Manual: Advanced, while Randy Rarick and Spencer Croul were talking story. Everyone else was checking out the old boards and grabbing a bite.
