Sponsorhouse: Third Name Same Old Deal

0A32B1Ee-2F45-4A2B-B3D5-F8618A626Bbe-1The Sponsorhouse story is an odd one. They started out trying to get kids to pay them money for the possibility of “getting sponsored”. Then in January of 2008 the company decided to change it’s name to Loop’d saying they were going to be the myspace of action sports. When they did, we made fun of them with a post titled Action Sports Gets Loopy.

Now, only two years later, they have changed their name again. This time to Hookit.com. Apparently, they were forced to change it after they “got caught in a Loop (aka Legal battle).” according to their website.

“We are really excited to finally roll out our new brand name and logo, and want to make sure all of our members and brand partners know that we are still the same company, offering the same products and services,” said Scott Tilton, CEO of Hookit.com. “We’ve had tremendous support during the transition and now we can solely focus on innovating new features for our members and partners again.”

We have to agree. The new name does explain exactly what they’re doing. . . Follow the jump for the complete press release.
Loop’d Network and SponsorHouse are Now Hookit.com
Largest and most active online social network for lifestyle sports rebrands as Hookit.com

SAN DIEGO, CA – February 10, 2010 – Today, Hookit.com formally announces the launch of its new brand name and online identity. The site, formerly known as the Loop’d Network or SponsorHouse.com, continues to operate with all the same members, partners, features and services that members are accustomed to.

The company, originally known as SponsorHouse, pioneered the online sponsorship category back in 2001. Now operating as Hookit.com, the site provides the same unique services created specifically for athletes and brands, including sponsorship, brand insider loyalty programs, contests, eCommerce, community websites and online self-promotion tools. Now with 550,000 members, Hookit.com is the largest and most active social network for motocross, bmx, skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and other lifestyle-oriented sports.

The selection process began last June and the new name was selected by members through a series of polls, interviews and surveys. Hookit.com more clearly defines what the network is all about – A place to hook up with friends, brands and deals all around your sports. Initially, the only visible change is the name and an updated look so members and brand partners won’t have to do anything differently when using the site.
