Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York is going to a get a brand new $1.8 million skatepark thanks to The Maloof Money Cup which will be held there June 5-6, 2010 according to an Associated Press story in the New York Times.
Joe and Gavin Maloof, who own the Sacramento Kings, said they would hold the event June 5 and 6 at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. The winner will make $100,000. The Maloofs will donate the $1.8 million skate park they will build for the competition to the city.
The Maloof Money Cup is still one of the best skateboard contests we’ve ever been to (click here for photos from last year). Money Cup West is still going down in Costa Mesa August 4-8, 2010.

New skate park in NYC?
Nicely done Maloofs
How about donating the MMC West skatepark to the OC Fairgrounds. This way Costa Mesa voters have control of the “designated-use” from the pending sale of their beloved fairgrounds. Can you imagine having Volcom Skatepark and the MMC street course & vert ramps across the street from on another? Ride On!!!
It will be sick, located where the “astral fountain” currently resides at the 1964 world’s fair grounds.
