Josh Buran, 26, nephew of Joey Buran, was out surfing La Jolla, California’s Black Beach on yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, January 12, 2010) when other surfers noticed that he was acting strangely after getting hit in the chin with his board, according to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Fellow surfers. . . recommended he go to shore, but Buran kept surfing, said San Diego lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum. . . About an hour later, a friend found him face down in the water with part of his body still on the board. CPR was performed in the water, he was brought to shore and 911 was called, Lerum said. . . Buran was taken to the hospital to be treated for a head injury and hypothermia, said Maurice Luque, spokesman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
We hope Josh is doing well today. We know there will be a lot of people praying for him.

I hope you get better dude. I know how you feel I got lucky getting closed on a 15er years ago at OB, I hit my board with my chin I didn’t even feel my legs collapse I got closed so bad..but I got lucky. Hope you don’t have any death wishes. You have to watch your back when the water’s cold.. I almost went into shock at ABs years ago. The tide was too high and I had to work my way along the mantles to Garbage and throw my board up on one of them. 2 or 3 times I got knocked to my ass because I couldn’t get my leash off, doing donuts on my butt on the slate.. Well I learned not to paddle without looking back. I did a shoulder roll and hit a rock in the middle of my back and lost all my gas.. I saw that clip my friend Jerry Patterson did of you with Cloudbreak pretty good
