Sometimes crazy backcounty snowboarding looks fun. Then there are the lines that Xavier de Le Rue takes: fun is rarely a good description for the sphincter-gripping gnar walls that Xavier apparently enjoys negotiating. This clip for TimeLine’s This is My Winter explains it.
A movie giving mountain lovers a unique chance to experience the mountain from Xavier de Le Rue’s point of view, when serious business starts. . . While one of the worst winter season strikes Europe TimeLine crew relentlessly sought the best spots and conditions along with Xavier’s friends and riding partners to deliver the best possible part for standard films TB20 movie.
Surfer Dave Rastovich and his crew of surfers, actors, artists, and musicians is sailing south in the Transparent Sea along the Southern California coast following the migration of the California Grey Whale from Santa Barbara to Baja, Mexico to raise awareness with “an emphasis on engaging key coastal community groups and drawing awareness to the causes they support.”
Tonight (Friday, October 7, 2011) Dave is at the Malibu Inn across from the Malibu Pier. Doors open at 6 PM and tickets are $15.00. On Sunday, October 16, 2011 he’ll be at the Ocean Institude Dana Point Harbor. Click here to buy tickets that that.
Those winter storm warnings that were issued throughout Southwestern Colorado earlier in the week have left their mark at Wolf Creek Resort in Colorado. With three feet of fresh snow, the resort is opening three lifts and selling $33 lift tickets Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9, 2011.
Treasure, Bonanza and Nova will be operating from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM servicing beginner, intermediate and expert terrain, including Alberta Face and Treasure Falls. . . Services will include: Ski School, the Wolf Creek Ski Rentals, the BoarderDome, the Upper Lodge and Treasure Sports.
If you’re really into catching the first flakes of the season you better get on the road because Wolf Creek is pretty much a 15 hour drive no matter where you start. Follow the jump for more info. [click to continue…]
Personally, we think 19 inches of new snow is more than enough to get the lifts running, but Mammoth Mountain management has yet to flip the switch. Not to say they’ve ruled it out entirely if this snow keeps piling in.
Mammoth is scheduled to open for the 2011-2012 winter season on Thursday, November 10, 2011 but early openings are not out of the question if snow conditions allow. The earliest opening date ever for the resort was October 8, 1994.
And that would be like, tomorrow. Sadly, we don’t think that’s going to happen. But those Avy chutes are certainly looking good right now. Follow the jump for the rest. [click to continue…]

There’s just nothing like paying good money to have someone pound you in the face with logos for a hour. Then again, it’s probably better than getting prop dusted for two-hours by the Jitter Cow helicopter.
Thanks to having over-sized heads we’ve always preferred large ass goggles. Burton’s eye covering division Anon has something big rolling out. The Comrade.
With a frame height of 101 mm, the Comrade provides a huge viewing area, making it easier to see it all and send it into orbit. In addition to its large size, the Comrade’s Spherical Lens mimics the curvature of the human eye for superior optics in all directions. Available in 23 different frame color and lens tint styles, the Comrade is the top choice of anon pro riders like Bode Merrill, Johnnie Paxson and Nic Sauve.
With 23 colors they must be good right? To buy a pair click here. They’re only $139.95 (good God!) Follow the jump for more info on the goggles and on how you can get an iPhone or iPad app that will let you lay around on the couch and dream of Anon goggles all day long. [click to continue…]
For all those times we’ve wished we could just wad up our skateboard and put it in our pockets, Snap Skateboard has the answer: a twice folding skateboard. With Snaps interlocking technology it is possible to fold both ends of the skateboard back on the deck. What results is a 14-inch long package that can be stowed away in. . . well, nothing, because it’s still too big and bulky to put anywhere.
How much is this folding skateboard that you’d never want to ride anyway? For a limited time only it’s selling for $169.00. Click here to buy one or follow the jump for more info. [click to continue…]
With all the coverage today regarding Shaun White Supply Co. and it’s soon-to-launch signature line of China crap we were surprised that no one mentioned the one new Shaun product that is made here in America: toilet paper.
Shaun White may wipe his ass with crisp hundred dollar bills, but it’s comforting to know that he understands that the other 99 percent of us don’t. That’s apparently why he’s reportedly releasing his new triple-ply line of Shaun Wipe Xtreme bathroom tissue.
Rumor has it that he will roll out (and demonstrate) his new personal hygiene product immediately prior to his vert run in the Caffeinated High Fructose Corn Syrup Championships presented by Go Kill Elephants Daddy in Las Vegas the weekend of October 13-16, 2011. And seriously, we can’t wait to watch him wipe out the competition.
This year at the annual Tony Hawk Foundation Standup For Skateparks benefit at former Source-Interlink owner Ron Burkle’s Beverly Hills estate, T-Hawk, Shaun White, Lincoln Ueda, Mitchie Brusco, Matt Hoffman, and Bucky Lasek put on a skate demo, the Black Keys played a private show and the whole gig raised $755,000 to help build free public skateparks in low-income neighborhoods.
“It was our best event by far,” said Tony Hawk. “The auction items were one-of-a-kind, and the skate demo was one of the best sessions I have ever witnessed (or taken part in). The Black Keys were the icing on the cake—the crowd was in awe.”

Not sure how we missed this back in August 2011, but Christian Hosoi has apparently signed on for a signature longboard with Stalk It 48Five Longboards. And when we say corny we mean corny. The core of the board is make out of corn.
The decks of all Stalk It™ Longboards are made from an innovative new material, called CornBoard™, that is engineered specifically for Stalk It™ Longboards. CornBoard™ is a renewable and environmentally responsible material that is made by combining leftover corn husks and leaves with a resin under heat and pressure. Since CornBoard™ is specifically engineered for each product that it is put into; it is the perfect material for the core of the Stalk It™ 48Five deck.
