Shaun White Sued By Former Band Member

by The Editors on May 11, 2016

TMZ.com says that Bad Things drummer Lena Zawaideh is suing bandmate Shaun White for among other things “inappropriate and sexually harassing and suggestive comments.”

Zawaideh also claims White forced her to rehearse while sick, demanded she cut her hair before a show in France … and ultimately stopped paying her because he felt she didn’t need the money. . . Zawaideh says White owes her more than $42k in back payments — but she wants A LOT more than that now … because she’s suing for punitive damages.

So far “White’s people” have not gotten back to TMZ. Reminds us of that line about every dollar being a problem.

BS With Tommy Guerrero and Ray Barbee

by The Editors on March 2, 2016

Tommy Guerrero and Ray Barbee talk a little more about music than skateboarding, but that’s kind of nice on a Wednesday — skateboarding, community, music. And some quality people talking about it.

Friday Pep Talk With Timbaland

by The Editors on February 5, 2016

Timbaland breaks down the world of pop cultural business success like no one else in this interview with Ebro and Rosenberg from Hot97. We don’t pretend to know a thing about the music, or the beats, or the scene, but the wisdom he conveys on what hits are, how they come about, and how to play the hit business game — especially his theories on the rise of “programmers over producers” and his own six-year cycle (26:40) — apply to every angle of action sports business.

The Daft Punk “Da Funk” Skateboard

by The Editors on May 21, 2015

Skateboard-OptimisedMusicians have three basic jobs — create music, play music, and sell anything they can that has their logo on it. French EDM legends Daft Punk have decided that what you really need from them is a cruiser board covered in Daft Punk logos, according to a story on Gigwise.

“These artisanal skateboard decks are handmade in France of molded beechwood by Hervet-Manufacturier. The board is clad with Formica laminate on both sides. The top face is laser engraved with a “grip effect” repeated logo pattern. The bottom is a 2 color inlayed logo. Limited to a series of 25 units per color way with a laser etched edition number.” The price is $280.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail – upgrade it. Just make sure to pay them on the way.

We’re always interested in people’s side project (wonder why?). And snow photographer Oli Gagnon has a great one–drumming in the “doom metal” band Hoopsnake. This is their first music video titled Curse of the White Widow. It has all the key elements: heavy bass, banging drums, strangulation, decapitation, masturbation, amputation, cannibalism, and a zombie. But we don’t want to ruin it for you. Just watch it. For an interview with Gagnon click the link.

The Sell Out In Song Form

by The Editors on December 1, 2014

Something about this hilarious ditty from The Moopets reminds us of what over-commercialization has done to many players in the industry. And we just can’t get it out of our heads. You’re welcome.

Shaun White Finally Goes To Prom

by The Editors on May 5, 2014

SideboobLast month a high school senior named Carly Monzo decided she wanted to go to prom (at her all-girl high school) with Shaun White.

So, Carly did what any self respecting high school girl would do. She made a video (click here to watch it) asking the former Olympic snowboarder to her prom, according to a story on NBC Philadelphia.

After a month with no response, Monzo figured her video was lost in the millions of tweets that her celeb crush normally receives. It’s a belief she held Friday night when she attended her prom at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. . . That all changed once she arrived and a school staffer called out her name. . . “I thought I was in trouble,” Monzo said. “I went out to the front and then all of a sudden the curtain on this photo booth dropped.” . . Behind the curtain was none other than White and his band “Bad Things.”

Rad to see how dressed up Monzo got without having a date. Guess that’s what makes Catholic School girls so, ah, . . oh, forget it. Follow the jump for her video. [click to continue…]
