Volcom used to be all about youth against establishment, but with this North American Volcom Tour 2010 lineup they appear to be much more about middle-aged heavy metal hair bears. . .

Volcom is proud to announce the spring 2010 U.S. edition of The Volcom Tour, headlined by Mastodon, beginning April 16, 2010 and featuring special guests Between the Buried and Me, Baroness and Valient Thorr.

Well, at least with three out of the four. . . .

Wiz Khalifa At Snowboard Mag Party

by The Editors on February 1, 2010

On Friday night January 29, 2010 after the Transworld Riders’ Poll we cruised out to the wasteland below the bridges to Mile High Station for the RZA show sponsored by Snowboard Magazine. As noted in the comments, we apparently only caught the Wiz Khalifa portion of the show and don’t feel bad about it at all.

And to think, some dude in this could would later get arrested for punching a girl in the face and police would reportedly find him armed with both a knife and a gun. . . yep. Denver.

Midnight Oil, Violent Femmes Reach The Beach

by The Editors on January 26, 2010

ThebreakLike vultures feeding on the pop music dead it seems the super-groups just keep coming. This time it’s Midnight Oil’s Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie and Martin Rotsey and bass player Brian Ritchie of Violent Femmes who are kicking off a psycho ’surf rock band’ called The Break, according to a story on Beatcave.

The foursome releases its debut album, Church Of The Open Sky, on April 16th via the Bombora label. . . The band’s official website already features a new song, “Cylinders,” which they describe as having “maximum surf and twang, sturm and drang.” The song is actually the first single and will be available Feb. 9 via iTunes. . . With 15 tracks, each named after legendary surf breaks, the music is definitely exciting, a nice blend of surf-guitar rock, but with a modern twist – maybe even a hint of the Oils in there as well.

Sounds a little like Devo’s p-twang band The Wipeouters to us, but it’s all good.

Pharrell is looking all winterfresh these days with some Nike Danny Kass snowboots and his newly designed chair that looks to have borrowed some design stylings from a Kassbohrer PistenBully. What now, the Billionaire Snowboys Club?

LeAnn Rimes Puts The Country In Snowboarding

by The Editors on December 29, 2009

LeannAspen still draws the celebrities for Christmas. If it’s not Charlie Sheen getting arrested for allegedly swinging a knife around the house, it’s country singer LeAnn Rimes snowboarding with her boyfriend Eddie Cibrian, according to JustJared.com.

Eddie, 36, and LeAnn, 27, are spending more time together out in public after a divorce settlement was reached with LeAnn’s ex-husband, Dean Sheremet. The divorce will officially occur as of June 19, 2010.

That is so good to hear. . . Snowboarding needs more rich divorcees.

New Nixon Watch Deal For Little Boots

by The Editors on December 15, 2009

LbNixon has signed musician Little Boots to their time telling team. Anyone who collaborates with Gary Numan is a friend of ours.

Hailing from the UK, Little Boots is leading the way as one of the best-known electropop musicians. Named to the 2009 “Artist To Watch” list by Rolling Stone and Esquire’s “Brilliant Brits 2009”, Little Boots is well on her way to closing out the year in a strong way. Making noise in the fashion world as well, Little Boots has gained notoriety for a look that has been described by some as “cosmic vintage” and has said that everything she wears onstage or off is reflection of her sound.

But then, you already knew all that.
