Thinking about venturing out-of-bounds or into the backcountry this winter? It’s never too early to being thinking about doing it all as safely as possible. The new Jones R.A.S. 30L backpack fits right in there with it’s Snowpulse Removable Airbag System.
“The 30L R.A.S. Ready is the ultimate split board pack for all day missions,” states Jones Snowboards founder Jeremy Jones. “When out for a day it is common to have 30 or 40 pounds on your back. This is where the pack really shines. The harness/carrying system handles weight extremely well and fits everything you need in the backcountry perfectly.”
The pack retails for $299.00 (the Mammut R.A.S. airbag is extra). For the official word from Jones, follow the jump. [click to continue…]

You probably don’t need a new snowboard this season (who really does?) But if you’re going to buy one, it’s best to buy one from a real snowboarding company. Take Venture Snowboards for instance. Their boards are made in the heart of the mountains by snowboarders, not by starving factory workers in China. And that’s probably a good thing.

It goes a little something like this:
Ethan Morgan, Mario Kaeppeli and Flo Corzelius, three unemployed snowboarders trying’ to make it from rags to riches and Russian bitches by risking their health to get nasty stitches. That’s what they do. . . There are a few other homeboys in there, too: Peter Koenig, Mario Wanger, Tom Klocker, Simon Pircher, Raffael Kossmann and Daniel Diedrich.
And yeah, it is time to snowboard.

The legend of Tom Sims gets another nice boost in the form of a Mazda car commercial which somehow ties Tom’s innovative spirit to that of the Mazda CX-5. If the jocks at the world’s finest snowboard site Yobeat hadn’t been watching some pro sports balls and bats game we would have never known about it.

Mark Schmid is making a snowboard tool in the shape of a carabiner. That’s right. A tool that snaps onto your belt loop where it will be always handy, but not in the way. He’s already created a skate tool and now he’s hoping to get this product launched with a little help from his friends on Kickstarter. Here’s what Automatic Mag says about it:
Aside from having the potential to save your day on the mountain CLICK Carabiners are incredibly useful for a host of other things like hooking your gloves to your belt loop, stylishly securing your keys and opening beers. Add in the CLICK Carabiner patent-pending “Glove-On” technology which allows you to open the tools even with gloves on, you’d be hard pressed to find a better, cooler, more useful tool for snowboarding . . .
With 34 days to go Schmid already has 1,261 backers who have pledged $25,381. If you’re down click the link and help him out.
