It’s 2009 and the SIA Trade Show has just now figured out that it might be a good idea to offer daycare during the Denver show being held January 28-31, 2010. How’s that for a first? No more dragging grandma along to sit in the hotel room all day.
SIA announced plans to offer on-site childcare services during the 2010 SIA Snow Show (January 28-31, 2010) at the Colorado Convention Center. The Colorado Convention Center was the first convention hall in the nation to designate an area specifically for childcare. Managed by New Thomas Learning Centers, the childcare facilities will include two separate rooms totaling 2,000 square feet equipped with toys and furniture appropriate for children between the ages of six-weeks to ten-years-old.
Wonder if this is a bandwagon the Action Sports Retail is fast enough to jump on?

We’d like to say that for more info you could go to the Bonfiresnow.com or the Windell’s sites, but we just went there and neither have more information that we could find.
Guess you just have to re-read the graphic above and then show up on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 9am in front of the WyEast Day Lodge at Timberline, Mt. Hood, Oregon and sign up. Sign up for the skate contest at 6 PM at Windell’s. The snow event is free to anyone with a lift ticket, and the skate event is first come first compete.

Amer Sports, the parent company of Salomon, Bonfire, and Atomic, just lost one of its larger investors as Novator Finland Oy announced today that it sold its entire 20 percent stake in the company to “institutional investors” at a 15 percent discount vs. Wednesday’s closing price, according to a story on Reuters.
Amer Sports shares were 15.4 percent lower at 7.02 euros 0718 GMT. . . Novator sold its 14.7 million shares at 7 euros each through SEB Enskilda.
Doesn’t exactly sound like a confidence building revelation.

It didn’t take Neff long to punch out a “commemorative” T-shirt with Michael Jackson on it.
Just a day after the tragedy with Michael Jackson, we created the “Long Live the King” tee for all those lovers of MJ who wish to preserve the life of the King himself. The tees will be available next tuesday for $20 in select retailers around the country. Check back for exact retailers next week.
Wonder if “select retailers” includes Urban Outfitters?

Joel Gomez has sold the Sessions brand and trademark to a new company that is backed by Samsung America, according to press release on TransWorld Business. The new company will, not surprisingly, be called Sessions, LLC and will continue to do the same thing they’ve been doing only now they’ll be doing it with someone else’s money.
“Even in these difficult times, Cindi and I felt strongly that, with the right business model and team, we could capitalize on over 20 years of experience and brand equity” said Joel Gomez in a statement. “Cindi and I have great confidence in the viability of this brand. We have a strong and experienced team and with Samsung as a partner, we now have the necessary capital to assure a smooth transition and continued success.”
One more reminder that in these economic times there’s nothing better than a big, fat paycheck. Follow the jump for the entire press release.

For the past two years Snowbroader.com has been our favorite Euro snowboarding blog. They always seem to be doing things correctly.
Shayboarder interviewed founder Nico Fermont to find out how it all got started and what’s up for the future.
In the past 3 years, we have used SnowBroader.eu as a laboratory to experiment with all sorts of Social Media tools. Today the experience we gained is at the foundation of our Social Media Agency. The Social Media tools we used helped us to give our blog more exposure but most importantly to engage with our audience. Thanks to all these tools we have build strong, loyal followings and a sense of community around SnowBroader.eu!
It’s nice to see responsible, creative people like Fermont doing up a blog with professionalism and authenticity. Apparently, it is possible.

Today, June 17, 2009 from noon to 2 PM Pacific (3-5 PM Eastern Time) Rome rider Bjorn Leines will be manning the Twitter feed to answer questions from anyone who slings on a #rometeam hash tag. Ask him anything you want and he’ll answer back. Kind of reminds us of the old chat interviews we used to roll during Internet bubble 1.0.

Follow the jump for all the details.

Hey, if the rave re-revolution is sweeping the world, then what perfect timing for Neff to hook up with Steve Aoki “world famous DJ” for a limited edition run of Gilligan’s Island sailor caps. Right?
The Neff x Steve Aoki Sailor cap was born off the idea of a hat that could rule the seven seas. The cap comes in two color options, black and white. Also, the duo collaborated to create some knit beanies modeled after the best selling Neff daily which are available in grey and purple.
Our favorite part of the whole collab? “These limited edition Neff x DIM MAK hats will be dropping soon in select retailers such as Urban Outfitters, Karmaloop, Zumiez and all core snow skate shops worldwide.”
Can you really put the words “limited edition” and “Urban Outfitters” in the same sentence? Apparently, Shaun Neff can.

Sherman Poppen’s Snurfer is getting ready for a trip to Washington DC as the Smithsonian Institution is reportedly in the process of designing a display to honor the creator of the boards, according to a story on Mlive.com.
The Smithsonian’s 19 museums drew 25.2 million visitors in 2008. Poppen’s display is expected to be part of the offerings at The Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention & Innovation. Located in the National Museum of American History, The Lemelson Center is dedicated to exploring invention in history and encouraging inventive creativity in young people. . . A Smithsonian spokeswoman noted that only about 3 to 5 percent of the national museum’s entire collection is on display at any given time, so area residents looking to view the Poppen display, which is still being designed, should not expect to just show up and necessarily see it.
Guess that means some people may see it and the rest of the time it will be hidden away with the ark of the covenant.
