Royal blue mesh, royal blue microfiber, and neon accents sit atop a neon EVA sole with royal blue traction pods (above) and a Grey mesh, black microfiber, red accents on a white EVA sole with black traction pods. Grain Surfboards Rolls Into Skateboarding

by The Editors on April 3, 2012

Grain-Surfboards-Offcuts-Initiative.152208

Grain Surfboards, the York, Maine based manufacturers of beautiful, handmade wooden surfboards is launching The Cedar Hill Skateboard as part of its Offcuts Initiative.

“The Offcuts Initiative is a recognition of our effort to waste no waste,” states Brad Anderson, Grain co-owner. “In the normal course of producing surfboards and Home Grown Kits, we’ve simply devoted ourselves to finding ways for each off-cut to be used somewhere down the line.” Though the last stop for Grain’s shavings and splinters is as animal bedding or garden mulch, whatever wood harbors even a hint of utility gets saved in the corners of the shop to await it’s full potential.

The Cedar Hill ($250 complete) is a cedar veneer laminate with “SFI-certified sustainably harvested maple.” The top is finished with a “permanent grip-tape” deck of bamboo cloth laminated with Entropy Eco-resin, and with the distinctive Grain Surfboards logo burned into the deck and bottom.” Follow the jump for more details or click here for more info.
