Salomon Launches New 4-Piece Split Board

by The Editors on January 23, 2014

Zoom-Kit-Crampons-Peaux

As if split boards weren’t in enough pieces already, Salomon Snowboards announced today (January 23, 2014) the newest addition to their split board offerings–the 4-piece The Premiere.

Designed with Josh Dirksen, The Premiere’s revolutionary technology achieves close to ski touring efficiency while maintaining torsional stiffness and reducing the vertical movement experienced with a two-part split. An internal straight edge, external edge under foot, and a shorter and wider shape allow for stiffer skis, easier kick-turns, and more control while maneuvering steep terrain. . . “Salomon came up with the idea to do something different, and that has always been the Salomon mentality- to challenge the status quo with new technology that makes snowboarding easier and more fun,” Dirksen says. “The Premiere does that with its lightweight and unique design, it’s very exciting!”

With lift prices the way they’re headed the “backcountry” is looking more and more inviting every day. . . especially if it ever snows on the West Coast. The Premiere comes with “custom pucks, the Voilé universal kit (hooks, clips, touring bracket, heel risers and sliders), custom fit skins and crampons” all for $1,299.00. Vans Tunes Up The Old Skools For Spring

by The Editors on January 17, 2014

Vans-Old-Skool-For-Spring-2014-In-(Vintage)-Pale-Khaki-And-Orange

Thought the Vans classic Old Skools couldn’t get any better? Wrong. For spring 2014 Vans is tuning up the classic “sidestripe” silhouette with some all new colors.
Debuting nearly four decades ago, the Sidestripe started as a random doodle by Vans Founder Paul Van Doren. Over the years the simple motif has evolved into an iconic symbol of the brand’s heritage. Originally referred to as the “Jazz Stripe”, the Sidestripe has marked some of Vans’ most celebrated footwear styles since its inception. Vans kicks off the celebration in spring 2014 as we reflect on the Sidestripe’s history and offer an expanded range of the original side striped silhouette: the Old Skool.

Evan Hecox On The Chocolate Vagabonds

by The Editors on November 20, 2013

EvanHecoxArtist Evan Hecox has been on the Chocolate Skateboards design program since 1997. Snowboarders of a certain age will remember Hecox’s ground breaking work for Twist Snowboard Clothing back in the day.

Now, with the release his new Vagabond Series for Kenny Anderson, Mark Johnson, Gino Ianucci, Raven Tershy, Vincent Alvarez, Chico Brenes, Justin Eldridge, Elijah Berle and Stevie Perez, it’s to let him tell his own Chocolate story.

That first Chocolate car series was done from photos I took of cars that I would see on the street. I used to live in the Mission District in San Francisco and I would walk or ride my bike around and take Polaroid photos of things that interested me. I’ve always had a fascination with old cars, especially ones that anyone has customized slightly or ones that are damaged, primer painted, multi-colored, or with old faded logos.

For the rest of Evan’s thoughts on skateboard graphcis and more images of the stunning Vagabond series, follow the jump.
