Vans has a whole new line of go-aheads aka shower slippers aka flip flops, aka slaps, aka sandals developed in conjunction with the Vans Surf Team. They’re called the UC1.
. . . the UC1 is built with comfort and function as its number one priority. The UC1 starts with a molded Ultracush sole, creating a comfortable, functionally-driven foundation. Next, specifically engineered flex grooves are designed to allow the sandal to move with your foot, allowing moisture to drain away while maintaining the perfect fit, wet or dry. Finally, the UC1 utilizes a three-point upper with a foam-backed, mesh-lined strap and reflective details to create a sandal the truly embodies “classic style” with “modern comfort”.

Here’s some decidedly not April Fools news. Patagonia is kicking off their Worn Wear Mobile Tour tomorrow April 2, 2015 in Ventura, California. They’re taking members of their Reno, Nevada warehouse repair staff on the road to fix your stuff for you for FREE.
The Worn Wear Wagon is a one-of-a-kind custom vehicle, created by artist/surfer Jay Nelson. The solar-powered camper shell is made from redwood salvaged from giant wine barrels and mounted on a ’91 Dodge Cummins fueled by biodiesel. The mobile repair shop, complete with an Industrial Juki sewing machine, will be open to anyone who brings in a garment, regardless of brand. The tour will aim to educate visitors about the philosophy behind Patagonia’s Worn Wear program, in addition to offering up some fun with food, drinks and live music.

powerHouse Books will be releasing a new book of photos and text featuring Vancouver’s mythical Barrier Kult skateboarding gang titled BA. KU. The words will be provided by Deer Man of Dark Woods with photography by Anthony Tafuro.
They’re an assembly of incognito professional skateboarders that ritualize their skill on concrete barriers. The team was created ten years ago by Deer Man of Dark Woods and Depth Leviathan Dweller, who decided to adorn a mask of anonymity after growing tired of the repetition of the professional skate world. One would argue that the Barrier Kult’s entire way of skating is repetitive, but the team takes this as a challenge to land big tricks… on stone cold concrete.

Watch out Oakley, Nike Vision is bringing heat to the skate and snow sunnies game with their debut line of Nike SB sunglasses. The shades all feature hand-crafted acetate frames and come in the following three styles and builds:
Nike Achieve (left column): A supple leather inlay and laser-etched Nike SB branding set the Achieve apart. Inspired by professional snowboarder Spencer O’Brien, the unisex style features a six-base frame coupled with a polished metal nose bridge. Includes minimal Nike SB branding on the interior. Just looking at this new Flow Darwin ABT makes us want to go ride some powder, but they say it works just as well on the groomed stuff.

The line of furniture, bedding, lighting, wall art, and “decorative accessories” will be reportedly made with sustainable materials and recycles fabrics like Forest Stewardship Council certified wood and rugs made with recycled fabrics and bedding using 100% organic cotton.
“I’m really excited to be working with PBteen on this project,” said Slater. “While they’re not part of the endemic surf market, I’m honored that PBteen has seen me as someone who can help a broader audience understand the need to use recycled, repurposed and organic materials. . . “Global conservation is a focal point of the capsule collection and it falls right in line with the change and direction I’m working towards, on a professional and personal basis. As we’ve said before if your mom’s going kit out your room to impress her friends it might as well be cool stuff. And if the Kelly Slater product is as nice as the Burton stuff is it’s going to be nice for your room. Now go clean up and make space for Kelly’s stuff.
