There’s really nothing else to say about the Burning of the Witch contest in Denmark:
No permit, no police, no problem. Just days before the Copenhagen Pro contest, Volcom and Thrasher teamed up for a Best Trick contest on the beach in Copenhagen, Denmark in honor of the age-old Danish tradition of The Burning of the Witch.”
In the suit, Hawk alleges when he signed the deal in 2005, Prime Entertainment “had no intention” of actually paying the guy what they promised. Instead, Hawk states he only received $35k of the $150k he was owed.
Lawsuits are just the way businessmen negotiate, right?
It is still possible to make it to the Copenhagen Pro contest. The DVS sponsored event runs June 26-28, 2010. Seriously, is there a better reason to visit Denmark? If not, then just watch the webcasts streaming live at 6:45 AM PST on Saturday and 5:45 AM PST Sunday on DVSShoes.com.
While iPhone fans are packing every Apple store in the world, Rob Dyrdek, P-Rod, and Chris Cole are apparently helping the opposing team. All three are scheduled for a skate demo today (June 24, 2010) at San Diego’s Fashion Valley to launch the opening of Microsoft’s fourth copy of the Apple’s store.
Dyrdek has apparently been on a Microsoft store-opening tour as of late. He was in Denver June 10 10 where he appeared with “Disney actress Demi Lovato.” Can’t say he’s not doing all he can for the Street League.
Shaun White’s triumphant return to skateboarding will apparently have to wait until another day according to a report from the Associated Press (Mr. White is big news now). He is out of the Boston Dew Tour Boston event due to injury.
Event spokeswoman Katie Trotsky says White’s representatives report he rolled an ankle while training and won’t be able to participate in the two-day 2010 Dew Tour event. However, he will be in NBC-TV’s broadcast booth for the vert finals Saturday.
We mentioned Kevin MIchael Connollytwo-and-a-half years ago when his photo show The Rolling Exhibition was touring the country. Born without legs, Connolly has spend the past several years rolling around on a skateboard and taking pictures of people looking down on him. In October 2009 HarperStudio published a memoir titled Double Take. It’s about growing up in a happy Montana family without getting a leg up. the book was just released in paperback and the reviews are still pretty good.

Photographer Grant Brittain (who’s been on an art show terror lately) will be showing some of his portraits and other works in a show with Josh Higgins at San Diego’s Subtext Gallery from July 30 – August 29, 2010.
Friends and fellow artists Grant Brittain and Josh Higgins will grace the walls of Subtext in a joint venture of unrelated themes. Brittain’s portraiture of some of skateboarding’s greatest names through the years features icons and underground heroes. Higgins’ poster-art focuses on his work with punkers, musical heros, and charitable causes. Together, the collective work suggests what it would be like to eavesdrop on these guys hanging out, having a beer, and comparing broken wrists and paper cuts.
It’s a long way off, but you might as well put the opening party in your calendar now: Friday, July 30th, 6-10pm
Analog (Burton Corp’s streetwear clothing company) will be hosting the opening reception for a photo gallery showing of images by some of the action sports world’s most creative camera cowboys at the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, California on June 23, 2010.
