When we heard first heart that Chris Cole was leaving Fallen Footwear for DC Shoes we were a little confused. Sure, there would be the increased paycheck, the increased promotion and pop-cultural visibility, but what about Jamie Thomas?
How could Chris Cole do that to his longtime friend and boss? More importantly, how could Thomas let him go? After reading the recent Zero Skateboards press release about how Chris Cole has become a “shareholder” it all makes sense.
“Cole’s loyalty and support have been an integral part of Zero’s success for the past decade. I’ve always included him in important decisions and brand direction, so it’s exciting to know that we’ll get to work together for the life of the brand. I couldn’t imagine a better partner,” says Jamie Thomas, founder and president of Zero Skateboards and Black Box Distribution.
We knew Jamie Thomas would figure out a way to get a piece of Cole’s DC cash.

With all the Jeff Grosso hype going down lately, it’s nice to see that Vans is taking a look at the man behind the myth with a new video series titled Jeff Grosso’s Love Letters to Skateboarding. It’s supposedly about “whatever Jeff wants it to be about” and that sounds just right to us.

Jamison Tuckett, 15, of Layton, Utah died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 after he was hit by a car while skateboarding, according to the Salt Lake City Tribune.
Tuckett, 15, was riding his longboard in the road near 325 North and 2200 West about 7 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a Honda Civic driven by Kailan Nay, 17, also of Layton. . . Nay told police she did not see Tuckett until it was too late to avoid striking him.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of both Tuckett and the driver.

The Daily Mail is reporting this star-studded meet up at a “sports shop” earlier this week: the David Beckham family and Shaun White:
The boys – Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and five-year-old Cruz – seem particularly keen on skateboarding – which is hugely popular in the US – and are fans of sports star Shaun White, who is an Olympic gold medallist and a champion of both the skateboard and the snowboard.
We all just love, love, love each other. Apparently, there is no end to the celebrity circle jerk.
