Oregon Father Beaten With Skateboard

by The Editors on March 22, 2011

Note to parents of teenage boys: if you stop your car up next to a group of kids on the street and the first thing that happens is one of them smashes out your back window with a skateboard DO NOT get out of the car.

A father from Gresham, Oregon named Tom was responding after finding out that his 15-year-old son had been beaten up by a group of kids. He reportedly drove straight to the scene to see what was up, according to a story on KOIN Local 6.

“As soon as I stopped the car one of them busted out the window of the car,” he said. “I jumped out to confront them and one of the teens said, ‘You want a piece of me?’ so I backed up and the teen in front of him yelled for one of the kids behind him to hit me.” . . That’s when Tom was hit in the face with the metal wheel side of the skateboard.

Tom was left bleeding out his eyes and face and the kids, of course, got away before police could arrive. If that wasn’t bad enough, Tom’s cousin was beaten to death on December 31, 2010, and Tom is being laid off from his job at Les Schwab at the end of the month. On top of that, police detectives have not even contacted the family yet because they “don’t have detectives working weekends.” They’re never there when you need them are they?

Old Floors Live Again With Glide Skateboards

by The Editors on March 21, 2011

Glide-Skateboards

Richmond, Virginia based Brian Lopez is building a business by making cruiser boards out of reclaimed wood flooring from basketball courts. The company is called Glide Skateboards, according to a post on Treehugger.com.

Materials such as reclaimed floorboards are resurrected when we mill, laminate, and shape them into functional works of art. . . We believe it is time to stop depending on our mother earth for resources and to start co-depending with her for a sustainable future.

Resurrection is good.

by The Editors on March 21, 2011

Chris Pastras and Jason Lee are proud to announce that Kyle Leeper is now on Stereo.

“We are more than proud and stoked to work with a skater who not only reminds us of our favorites from previous generations, but also one who’s actions speak louder than his words. That being said, We’ll let his welcome video speak for itself…

Appears to be, as they say in business, a “good fit.”

by The Editors on March 17, 2011

In the last of our coverage of Tony Hawk’s most recent divorce comes news that Matty Goodman is “cool with,” Tony dating his wife, according to Radaronline.com.

In response, Goodman said:

“I know people will think it is strange but I’m totally cool with it,” Goodman told RadarOnline.com about Hawk dating his wife. . . “I had split up with Cathy over a year ago and she started dating Tony about seven months ago. . . I have a new girlfriend now and I hope Tony, Cathy and Lhoste can all be happy. . . “I texted Tony today and we are all trying our best to get along. . . Our kids are all friendly and we do not want a bad situation – people are making it a bigger deal than it is.”

Yes they are. And that sounds just like the Matty Goodman we know. Now we’re done.
