Nyjah Huston and the other seven Street League Champions skated their asses off during the finals and all that comes to nothing because the truck on the trophy skateboard is backward. Not surprisingly, the independent skateboard media was quick to pick up on this. You Will Soon says:
Considering a trophy is a symbol of a competition’s ultimate achievement, I find it quite fitting that the championship trophy for Street League is one of the biggest, most embarrassing blunders you can make in skateboarding.

The backwards truck phenomenon happens all the time when marketers attempt to use skateboards without consulting an actual skateboarder. How did it apparently happen to Rob Dyrdek’s Street League Skateboarding, an organization dedicated to presenting “real” skateboarding?
You know as Rob Dyrdek watched Nyjah hold that trophy up all he could see was that truck, backwards. Look at his face. Guess this is just one of the downsides of having “people” that handle things for you.

Here’s a little of what the LA level of Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD looks like. This DLC (downloadable content) pack (including the Airport) is supposedly “expected soon,” according to a story on VG247.com.
Activision had promised gamers future DLC in the form of popular Tony Hawk 3 level Airport, but the content has still to surface. However, leaked footage of the level and several more has appeared online.
Almost makes us want to get a PS3 so we can download THPS HD when it becomes available tonight (August 28, 2012) at 5 PM.

We all figured this would happen and it did. Nyjah Huston took the 2012 Street League Championships over Chris Cole and Chaz Ortiz and rolled away with $200,000 more. Guess the only one surprised about the win was Nyjah.
“I definitely was not expecting to win, because when you expect to win, you lose” said 2012 Street League Champion Nyjah Huston. “All of the guy skilled it so hard today. You have to land your tricks on the spot. The pressure is on. But there is no better competition ground than Street League, we always bring our best for SLS and Rob Dyrdek.”

So that’s what Paul Rodriguez, Bastien Salabanzi, Chris Cole, Luan Oliveira, Ryan Sheckler, Chaz Ortiz, Sean Malto, and Nyjah Huston are skating for in the 2012 Street League Championships Saturday, August 26, 2012. Now it all makes sense.

Today, (August 23, 2012) Boston Market made a $10,000 to the Ryan Sheckler Foundation at their “restaurant” in North Arlington, New Jersey. Ryan was there to accept the check and to sign autographs.
“Ryan’s dedication to his charity and his passion for Boston Market made him the ideal host for today’s event,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market. “Not only is he a legend in the skateboarding world, but he has found the time to give back to those in need as well. Boston Market is proud to support Ryan’s organization and offer quality food with great service to our guests.”

As the 2012 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California made plainly clear to everyone, Nike’s only real interest is action sports is selling shoes and clothing. Providing more evidence is their latest commercial featuring buttery smooth skater Gino Iannucci rolling around NYC in a pair of shoes that John McEnroe used to play tennis in, the Nike Challenge Court. But with this shoe, Nike has added an “SB” so you’ll know it’s for, you know, skateboarding. . . classic.

Since the first skateboard, kids have all tried something similar. We used an old inner tube as a strap to help us jump, Skyhooks used plastic, and Paul Hackett used velcro “Suspenders” to air out of a pool for his September 1977 cover of Skateboarder Magazine. Now, Kevin Rains, a father who doesn’t skateboard, has come up with his own kind of ollie cheaters called Krainkn, according to a story on Business News Daily.
After researching existing products and even registered patents, Rains, who was working in the mortgage business at the time, discovered there was nothing out there like what he had in mind. Rains envisioned a set of handles that would attach to the skateboard or snowboard with flexible tubing and allow the user to hold onto something while learning to maintain their balance.
Why is it that bad skateboarding ideas just keep reappearing year after year after year? Sometimes it’s just so sad. Especially when it’s on Kickstarter and no one is funding.

Ronald Weekley Jr., a skateboarder from Venice, California is claiming that police beat him after he was already pinned to the ground, according to a story on KTLA.com. He was stopped by police for reportedly “riding his skateboard against traffic.”
Weekley said he was skateboarding in front of his home Saturday afternoon when Los Angeles police officers detained him and threw him to the ground. . . “I turned around to two cops running directly at me and throwing me on the ground, putting my arms behind my back and tying my legs to my arms and telling me I was resisting arrest,” Weekly recalled.
As is the case with most everyone who is beaten by police, Weekley was charged and jailed for “resisting arrest.” Luckily, it was all caught on video. Follow the jump to see the entire cellphone video and see first hand how hard police officer work to keep the public from recording their actions.

Rather than bringing other skaters to the Weekend Buzz set Jereme Rogers brings Justin Beiber video girl and pop singer Jennifer Jayleen Martinez to talk all things Jereme. He has a lot of explaining to do, and truthfully Jereme gets through some of his most “media spectacles” by blaming them on the mushroom plant. But this is only Part 1. Part 2 is next week.
