Adidas Skateboarding has pulled together Snoop Dogg and Mark Gonzales together for a new limited edition collection called LA Stories. The collection includes “a limited edition sneaker, hoodie, long-sleeve shirt and t-shirt accented with nostalgic Southern California iconography.”

The collection is inspired by the the duo’s deep connection to Los Angeles style beginning with a customized Matchcourt Mid. Constructed with a full-grain, buttery cream leather upper, the shoe features the iconic three stripes in a blue hue, custom sockliner, gold eyelets and is detailed with signature artwork by Gonz on the outsole. In the 90s, plaid flannels were wardrobe staples for Snoop and Gonz and the digitized plaid tongue and heel overlay designed straight from Gonz’s iPad was its inspiration. Gonz’ custom artwork also appears on the limited edition hoodie, long sleeve shirt and t-shirt featuring lowriders and graffiti lettering.

The shoes retail for $85 and the clothing pieces start at $30 and will be available at Adidas.com and a select specialty skate retailers. In other words, you can get these at the outlet mall.

NikeSB App Rolls Into Retirement

by The Editors on September 28, 2016

nikesb_appscrnIn an “service update” email sent today (September 28, 2016) to users of the NikeSB skateboarding app the company says they will be retiring the iOS social sharing skateboarding app on November 1, 2016 to “make way for their newest services.” They offered the following advice for users who would still like to get up with NikeSB.

In place of using the SB App to upload your clips, now you can get your clips spotted on Instagram.
1. Upload your videos to Instagram
2. Tag @nikesb and use the hashtag #CheckMeSB
3. Have a chance to be featured on our Nike SB channelsIn addition, we will continue to serve you with first access to SB product, videos and events through the Nike+ App.

We haven’t used the app in a while, but remember it being pretty solid when it launched in 2013. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if  they’ve got something better coming up. Seems it’s still open season in the hunt for a “Strava for skateboarding” app. Better get on it.

Adidas New Soccer Shoe For Skateboarding

by The Editors on September 12, 2016

adidas_premiere

When a footwear company is known for making sports shoes there’s no reason for them to leave their heritage behind just because they’re also into skateboarding, right? Well, that’s apparently what adidas believes. And that’s why their new Adi-Ease Premiere Universal skate shoes look so much like their soccer shoes.

Inspired by the iconic soccer shoe “Universal,” the shoe bridges rich adidas heritage with modern street skating. The Adi-Ease Premiere Universal takes detailed design cues from the Universal yet maintains the silhouette and board control of the popular Adi-Ease Premiere skate shoe. Scotty Lago Suing Keir Dillon For $50k

by The Editors on September 9, 2016

lago_olySnowboarder Scotty Lago (winner of an Olympic Bronze medal) reportedly “loaned” Keir Dillon $50,000 back in 2011 (the year Dillon and crew founded the Frends brand). Now he wants it back, according to a story on Sea Coast Online.

Lago filed the suit in Rockingham Superior Court Aug. 9 against Keir Dillon, a resident of Carlsbad, California, and who has worked as a television host and sideline reporter for ESPN and FUEL TV. The lawsuit states Dillon and his headphone company Republic of Frends, of which Dillon is CEO, was loaned $50,000 in August 2011 by Lago with the expectation Lago be paid back the following year with 7 percent interest.

As we know from his appearance on Shark Tank, Dillion has spent far more than $50,000 chasing his Frends dreams. Hopefully they can work this out without going to court, because, you know, there is no “i” in friendship.
