In a recent marketing emailer with the subject line “All New Skiing Stuff From RIDE,” the brand is apparently making a statement about their core commitment to snowboarding. Seems they forgot to add the line: “But if you want skis (or snowshoes, or inline skates) you can get them from K2 Sports, the mega-corp that controls, manages, and owns us completely.” Core, not that core.

As the most pivotal stop on the tour this season, the Malmö outcome will decide the final top-ranking 2018 Tour Challengers to earn the coveted invite to compete at the VPS World Championships in China on October 27, while continuing to expand the open path for prospective women’s challengers to prove their ranks and advance into the pro tour circuit.

Nixon has announced a collab with a band from the 90s called Metallica on an eight watch collection that was “born of long-shared mutual respect for upstarts who buck the system and wind up changing it for good.” The watches, which will be available on November 5, 2018, feature band logos, scary crosses, lightning bolts, and even some Pushead art. VonZipper is welcoming Josh Hartley to their team where he will be the brands global design director and chief officer of “product badassery,” according to a release from the company.

Meanwhile, in surf footwear news, Jeff Booth has been appointed the director of sales for Flojos footwear. The former top 5 pro surfer has made a career in the action sports industry working for former surf giants like Billabong, Quiksilver, and Oakley.
“I am very excited to have Jeff join the team at Flojos,” says Flojos CEO John Dickinson. “Jeff’s Surfing background and extensive sales experience bring us a strong skill set with his understanding of footwear and apparel along with instant credibility in the specialty market. He really understands the business and we feel he will be a great asset to Flojos.”

The Hundreds in collaboration with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti have created an LA original collection.
LA Original is a program developed by the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles to cultivate the growing talent and entrepreneurship that calls LA home. With the aim to show that Los Angeles is a place where creativity thrives, LA Original has collaborated with artists and creators from Jen Stark to Anwar Carrots and Geoff McFetridge. All proceeds from the project received by the Fund supports the Downtown Women’s Center’s “Made by DWC” program, which teaches job training and maker skills to LA women transitioning out of homelessness.
The Hundreds capsule collection includes a T-shirt and pullover hoodie with a hand-drawn design by Bobby Hundreds himself. The collection drops on August 20, 2018 at at The Hundreds Los Angeles, LA Original’s MOCA pop-up, laoriginal.com, and thehundreds.com. For more info follow the jump.
