Remember To Go Skateboarding On June 21

by The Editors on June 21, 2011

Jim-Phillips-Creates-2011-Go-Skateboarding-Day-Poster-Large.Jpg 480X601Yes, we all should be skateboarding everyday and most do, but that’s not the point of the 9th Annuall Go Skateboarding Day today (Tuesday, June 21, 2011). The point is to let the rest of the world know that skateboarding is important, necessary, positive, influential, and eternal. In the words of the International Association of Skateboard Companies:

GSD unites the global skateboard family to have fun, raise money and awareness for needy skateparks, promote local skate shops, and raise money for local charities and community needs. Founded by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) and with strong support from skaters everywhere, GSD is a holiday that encourages everyone to drop what they are doing, have fun, and go skateboarding! . . . “This year for GSD, IASC is focused on promoting charities and retailers that support and grow their communities through the love of skateboarding,” said IASC Executive Director Josh Friedberg. “Events like the Skateistan Skate-a-thon in Afghanistan and Fairfax Skateshop’s Skate-for-a-cause in Annandale, Virginia are great examples of ways the 2011 holiday will make a difference in people’s lives. Go Skateboarding Day is a great time to remember what you love about skateboarding. Grab your friends, get out there and skate!”

Yes, Phil Frost is worth a big ol’ graphic in the middle of this page. See him Saturday night, April 24, 2010 at Known Gallery 441 North Fairfax Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90036. Come to think of it, we’ve had a hankering for turkey dinner at Cantor’s for a while now. . . this could be the chance for a perfect evening in LA.

Tony Hawk’s Law Firm Lawyers Up

by The Editors on February 16, 2010

BmkylawThe law firm that represents Tony Hawk, Morris Yorn Barnes & Levine, has just announced that they have added three more names to their firm’s title. After adding David Krintzman, Todd Rubenstein and Alex Kohner to the title the company will now be known as Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein & Kohner.

We feel badly for the receptionists. . . obviously, no one at the company is thinking of them. “Thank you for calling MYBLKRK? My black ark?”

Follow the jump for the entire release and you’ll understand much better why Tony’s contracts are always pretty buttoned up.
